Job summary

Moody's Investors Service is seeking a senior data engineer to design and deliver scalable data infrastructure powering advanced analytics and AI initiatives. You will work with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business needs into robust data platforms on AWS, ensuring governance and security are embedded from the start.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in large-scale data infrastructure and AI apps.
• Proficiency designing scalable, fault-tolerant data infra on AWS (Redshift, RDS, Glue, EMR).
• Advanced Python, PySpark, and SQL skills for data manipulation.
• Experience with big data tech such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Kinesis.
• Data modeling across SQL and NoSQL platforms; data governance & security.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical data solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving in AI initiatives.

Responsibilities

Skills and Competencies

• 7+ years of experience developing and managing large-scale data infrastructure and artificial intelligence applications
• Proficiency in designing scalable, fault-tolerant data infrastructure on Amazon Web Services using Redshift, Relational Database Service, Glue, Elastic MapReduce, and related services
• Advanced skills in Python, PySpark, and Structured Query Language for efficient data manipulation and processing
• Experience with big data and real-time processing technologies, including Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and Amazon Kinesis
• Experience with data modelling and database design across Structured Query Language and NoSQL platforms
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, and security best practices
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions in partnership with data scientists, analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders, supported by strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Deep expertise in artificial intelligence, with a track record of implementing advanced AI solutions to drive strategic transformation and operational efficiency. Strong experience using AI tools to lead innovation initiatives. Demonstrated leadership in managing AI-related risks, ensuring ethical governance, and fostering a culture of responsible AI adoption across the organization.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
• Amazon Web Services certification, such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, or an equivalent cloud platform credential is highly desirable

Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure data infrastructure that supports advanced analytics and artificial intelligence solutions.

• Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant extract, transform, load and extract, load, transform processes using Amazon Web Services
• Develop and optimize data workflows using Python, PySpark, and Structured Query Language to deliver reliable performance
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to gather data requirements and deliver effective technical solutions
• Apply data governance, quality, and security best practices across data pipelines
• Automate and optimize data processing to improve reliability and reduce manual intervention
• Drive the adoption of emerging big data, cloud engineering, and automation practices
• Lead and mentor data engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting capability development
• Foster teamwork, openness, and innovation within and across teams
