Job summary

GreyOrange is seeking a Manager – Cost Accounting to lead end-to-end cost accounting for inventory and manufacturing operations in Gurugram, India. The role focuses on accurate COGS recognition, accruals, and adherence to US GAAP and ASC standards.

The ideal candidate will have CA/CPA/MBA with 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, strong NetSuite knowledge, and experience with multinational or startup environments. Excellent Excel and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end cost accounting for inventory and manufacturing operations per US GAAP.
• Manage COGS across revenue streams; ensure proper revenue matching and reconciliation.
• Account for warranty costs, accruals, and reserves analysis.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations on inventory controls and E&O reserves.
• Ensure compliance with ASC 330 Inventory and ASC 606 revenue/cost matching.
• Coordinate external/internal audits on GL and controls; support disclosures.
• Drive process improvements and automation with cross-functional teams.

Job description

• Own end-to-end cost accounting for inventory and manufacturing operations, including standard costing, cost roll-ups, variance analysis, and periodic inventory valuation in accordance with US GAAP.
• Manage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounting across all revenue streams — hardware sales, software, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC), and professional services — ensuring accurate recognition, allocation, and reconciliation to revenue.
• Account for and monitor warranty costs on product sales, including accrual methodology, true-ups, and analysis of actual claims versus reserves.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations teams on inventory accuracy, cycle counts, obsolescence/excess & obsolete (E&O) reserves, and physical inventory processes.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP (including ASC 330 Inventory, ASC 606 revenue/cost matching) for all cost accounting activities, including technical analysis and disclosures.
• Coordinate and manage external and internal Audit requests related to General ledger, controls testing and financial statement
• Drive and partner with external/ internal teams for process improvements, automation

Requirements

• Chartered Accountant/ CPA/ MBA with 8-10 years of post-qualification experience,
• Experience in Big 4 or large accounting firms is preferred
• Strong knowledge of NetSuite Manufacturing and Inventory Management
• Sound knowledge of US GAAP/Ind AS
• Experience with Multinational set up, and/ OR Start-up organizations preferred
• Strong financial concepts, knowledge of accounting principles, and clarity on consolidation
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, good IT proficiency, particularly in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
