Manager Analytical Division (Formulation R&D)
Job Summary
The Manager Analytical Division (Formulation R&D) will lead the analytical science team to develop, validate, and execute robust testing methodologies specifically for innovative and generic crop protection formulations. This role ensures that all product developments strictly comply with CIB&RC guidelines and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) requirements, driving the companys product pipeline from lab scale to successful commercial manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Method Development & Product Characterization
- Develop and validate stability-indicating analytical methods for complex pesticide formulations (e.g., combinations, premixes, WDG, WP, SC, EC, EW, SE, CS, ZC, OD and other agrochemical formulations).
- Quantify active ingredients (AI) and evaluate physical-chemical parameters (e.g., suspensibility, emulsion stability, wet sieve analysis, acidity/alkalinity) per CIPAC and BIS protocols.
- Supervise accelerated storage stability (AHS) and long-term shelf-life studies of formulation samples.
2. Regulatory Support (CIB&RC Compliance)
- Generate, compile, and review comprehensive analytical chemistry data required for CIB&RC registration dossiers (under categories like 9(3) and 9(4)).
- Lead the 5-batch analysis and impurity profiling of technical materials sourced for formulation development.
- Liaise with internal Regulatory Affairs (RA) to address technical queries raised by the registration committee.
3. Technology Transfer & Plant Support
- Successfully transfer validated analytical methods from the R&D center to plant Quality Control (QC) labs across manufacturing sites in India.
- Assist plant QC teams during the commercial scale-up of new formulations, troubleshooting any analytical anomalies or out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Evaluate the quality of technical-grade materials and co-formulants received from domestic and international suppliers.
4. Team Leadership & Lab Governance
- Manage a team of analytical chemists, ensuring high data integrity, robust documentation, and compliance with NABL/GLP norms.
- Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and AMC management of high-end instruments like HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and Particle Size Analysers.
Required Technical Skills & Competencies
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with CIB&RC guidance documents, Schedule III of the Insecticides Act, and BIS specifications for pesticides.
- Instrumentation: Hands-on mastery and troubleshooting skills for HPLC and GC. Experience with automated physical testing equipment.
- Formulation Analytics: Thorough understanding of how surfactant interactions, polymers, and adjuvants affect chromatographic separation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Agrochemicals / Agriculture Chemicals.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in an agrochemical R&D / ADL setup, with a minimum of 3 years in a team-leading role specifically within a formulation-driven business.
Industry Context:
Prior experience working with renowned Indian agrochemical manufacturers and a strong track record of successful CIB&RC data submissions.
