HITACHI VANTARA INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a highly analytical Financial Accountant to join our finance team in India. The role partners with the Finance Manager to oversee accounting finalization, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiencies in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

You will own end-to-end accounting, VAT/tax compliance, and project-based costing, building SOPs, preparing management summaries, and supporting strategic decision-making across departments.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically sound Financial Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will work with the Finance Manager to oversee financial health, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive internal cost efficiencies.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional capable of handling end-to-end accounting finalization, ensuring strict adherence to current accounting standards, and taking full ownership of VAT/tax compliance. A strong background in management accounting specifically project-based costing is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Year-End Finalization
   • Finalization of Accounts: Lead the end-to-end closing process for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
   • Nature & Trend Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis of financial data, balance sheets, and profit & loss line items to ensure accurate classification and identify anomalies.
   • Accounting Standards Compliance: Ensure all financial records, entries, and reporting strictly adhere to current statutory accounting standards and proper accounting treatments.
   • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the finance teams recurring tasks.
   • Prepare quick-turnaround financial summaries, schedules, or spreadsheets as requested by the Finance Manager for leadership or lenders.
2. Management Accounting & Cost Control
   • Project Costing Reports: Develop, maintain, and analyse project-wise costing reports to track profitability against budgets.
   • Collaborative Support: Work directly with the Finance Manager to translate financial data into strategic insights for operational decision-making.
3. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
   • VAT Management: Take ownership of VAT return preparation, ensuring accurate reconciliation between accounting records and tax portals, followed by timely filings.
   • Tax Administration: Assist in navigating local corporate tax compliance, regulatory disclosures, and statutory filings.

Skills

• Costing Expertise: Proven experience building project costing sheets and calculating material variances.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas) and accounting systems (e.g., Xero, VT Transaction Plus)
• Attributes: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership in a fast-paced environment.
