Job summary

Weekday (YC W21) is seeking a Mid-Senior level accounting leader in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The role requires 4+ years of accounting experience and expertise in GST.

You will supervise accountants, oversee daily bookkeeping, and ensure accurate bank, vendor, and customer reconciliations. You will manage GST compliance, TDS processes, and financial statement finalization while driving improvements to controls and processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong GST compliance knowledge.
• Ability to supervise, train and mentor accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Indian Accounting department.
• Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations.
• Review bank, vendor, and customer reconciliations for accuracy.
• Manage GST compliance, return filing, reconciliations, and related matters.
• Oversee TDS calculations, payments, return filing, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review MIS reports and financial analysis.
• Coordinate with auditors and external professionals.
• Establish accounting controls, SOPs and review processes.
• Identify process gaps and implement improvements to increase efficiency.

About The Role

• Lead and manage the complete Indian Accounting department
• Supervise, train, and mentor accountants and senior accounting professionals
• Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations
• Review and ensure accuracy of bank, vendor, and customer reconciliations
• Manage GST compliance, return filing, reconciliations, and related matters
• Oversee TDS calculations, payments, return filing, and reconciliations
• Review monthly and annual financial statements and finalization of accounts
• Handle multi-currency accounting and inter-company transactions
• Prepare and review MIS reports, management reports, and financial analysis
• Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and other external professionals
• Establish strong accounting controls, SOPs, and review processes
• Identify process gaps and implement improvements to increase efficiency
• Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities
• Handle escalations and provide accounting guidance to the team
• Support management in financial planning, reporting, and decision-making
• Take ownership of department performance, productivity, quality, and client satisfaction
