Job summary

Scindia School in Madhya Pradesh is seeking a Male Nurse to provide timely and compassionate nursing care at the School Health Centre. You will support medical care for students and staff, manage medications, monitor vitals and coordinate with the School Doctor and families for referrals.

You will promptly respond to emergencies, maintain hygiene and records, and help promote health and preventive care across the campus.

Qualifications

• Essential ANM / GNM / B.Sc. Nursing qualification.
• Valid registration with State Nursing Council.
• First-aid and CPR training an advantage.
• Experience in schools, boarding schools, hospitals or paediatric settings.
• Experience handling emergencies and minor injuries.

Job description

1: Job Purpose

The Male Nurse will be responsible for providing timely, compassionate and professional nursing care to students and staff at the School Health Centre. The position requires maintaining high standards of hygiene, health monitoring, first aid and emergency response, while ensuring appropriate coordination with the School Doctor, parents/guardians and hospitals when required.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Nursing & Patient Care

• Provide first aid and basic nursing care to students and staff.
• Assess and monitor patients presenting with illness, injury or other health concerns.
• Administer medicines and treatments strictly as prescribed by the School Doctor or authorised medical practitioner.
• Monitor vital signs and maintain appropriate patient records.
• Attend to minor injuries, fever, pain, sports injuries, dehydration and other routine health concerns.
• Assist the School Doctor during consultations, examinations and treatments.
• Provide appropriate care and observation to students kept under medical supervision.

B. Emergency & First-Aid Services

• Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the school campus.
• Provide immediate first aid and stabilisation until further medical assistance is available.
• Assist in arranging ambulance services and hospital referrals when necessary.
• Accompany students to hospital when required and ensure proper handover to medical personnel.
• Maintain readiness of emergency medicines, first-aid kits and essential medical equipment.

C. Student Health & Well-being

• Monitor the health of students who are unwell or recovering from illness.
• Pay particular attention to students with known medical requirements, allergies or ongoing treatment, as directed by the School Doctor.
• Support health screening and medical check-ups conducted by the school.
• Promote basic health, hygiene and preventive-care practices among students.

D. Records & Administration

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of consultations, treatments, medicines administered and referrals.
• Maintain stock registers for medicines, medical supplies and first-aid materials.
• Check expiry dates and ensure proper storage of medicines and medical equipment.
• Report shortages, damaged equipment or expired medicines to the appropriate authority.
• Prepare routine health-related reports as required by the School Administration.

E. Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate closely with the School Doctor, Housemasters/Housemistresses, teachers, sports staff and school administration.
• Communicate relevant health information to parents/guardians through the authorised school channel.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students' medical information.
• Support the school's health and safety protocols and emergency preparedness programmes.

3. Qualifications & Experience

• Essential: ANM / GNM / B.Sc. Nursing or an equivalent recognised nursing qualification.
• Valid registration with the appropriate State Nursing Council.
• Current first-aid and basic life-support/CPR training will be an advantage.
• Previous experience in a school, boarding school, hospital, residential institution or paediatric setting will be preferred.
• Experience in handling emergencies and minor injuries is desirable.
