Job summary

ABB India Ltd. Electrification, Smart Buildings in Nelamangala, Bangalore invites an experienced Maintenance Specialist to safeguard equipment availability and optimize production lines. You will plan preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot diverse systems, and drive reliability improvements in a manufacturing setting.

You will collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and suppliers to implement RCA, CAPA, and process improvements while adhering to safety and TPM practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in machine maintenance in manufacturing industries.
• Hands-on experience in preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and automation systems.
• Experience in troubleshooting sheet metal stamping, machining, fabrication, and assembly equipment.
• Knowledge of Supplier Quality Assurance, PPAP, RCA, CAPA, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Understanding of maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to maximize equipment availability.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and automation issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
• Support maintenance for sheet metal stamping, machining, fabrication, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Supplier Quality Assurance teams to resolve issues.
• Monitor maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with LOTO procedures, TPM, 5S, and safety standards.
• Support cost reduction and reliability enhancement initiatives.

Role - Maintenance Specialist

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability, efficiency, and availability of equipment, production lines, and facilities. You will plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient production operations.

You will also work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and external suppliers to improve equipment performance, resolve technical issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

You Will Be Mainly Accountable For

• Planning and executing preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability.
• Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and automation-related equipment issues.
• Conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring breakdowns and downtime.
• Supporting maintenance activities related to sheet metal stamping, machining, fabrication, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinating with Production, Quality, and Supplier Quality Assurance teams to resolve equipment and process-related issues.
• Supporting supplier quality activities, including PPAP, problem-solving, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives.
• Managing critical spare parts, maintenance records, service schedules, and equipment documentation.
• Supporting the installation, commissioning, modification, and validation of new machines and production equipment.
• Monitoring maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, downtime, and equipment availability.
• Ensuring compliance with LOTO procedures, safety standards, statutory requirements, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
• Supporting cost reduction, productivity improvement, and equipment reliability enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications for the Role

• Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline. Mechatronics qualification is preferred.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in machine maintenance, preferably in Switchgear, Automobile, Electronics, or other manufacturing industries.
• Strong hands‑on experience in preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
• Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and automation systems.
• Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of sheet metal stamping, machining, fabrication, and assembly equipment.
• Knowledge of Supplier Quality Assurance, PPAP, RCA, CAPA, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Understanding of maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, and equipment downtime.
• Knowledge of LOTO, TPM, 5S, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and support maintenance activities as required.
