Job summary

Gestamp in Pune, India, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to drive reliability across electrical, robotics and mechanical systems. You will plan preventive maintenance, supervise a small team, and coordinate with vendors to ensure uptime and safety.

You will implement TPM, lead continuous improvement projects, and manage maintenance costs while producing MIS and KPI reports.

Responsibilities

• Track, monitor, and improve maintenance of plant equipment including electrical, robotics, and mechanical systems.
• Plan and monitor predictive and preventive maintenance to increase machine up-time and reliability.
• Ensure zero incidents through periodic safety audits and action plans for unsafe conditions for each machine/work area.
• Oversee erection/commissioning and reconditioning of old/new equipment.
• Lead the maintenance team and monitor performance for efficiency gains.
• Negotiate with service providers and coordinate spare parts procurement.
• Support TPM and continuous improvement projects, including energy saving and waste management initiatives.
• Create MIS on uptime, MTTR/MTBF, spares consumption, CAPA and budget control.

Role & responsibilities

Job Responsibilities and Major Activities/Tasks:

1. Maintenance Planning and Execution

• Track, monitor, and improve the Electrical, Robotics & Mechanical Maintenance covering, day to day breakdown maintenance, predictive maintenance & preventive maintenance of Plant Equipment.
• Plan & monitor predictive & preventive maintenance for various machinery and equipment across plant to increase machine up time and reliability.
• Ensure zero incidents / zero Man-day loss by Periodic Safety Audits & Identification unsafe conditions for each machine / work area, action plan preparation / implementation.

2. Equipment and Utility Management

• Ensure machine reconditioning / Up gradation, Erection / commissioning of new / old equipment.
• Ensure Operation & Maintenance of Power substation and distribution system - Gen-set, Air Compressors, Transformers, Breaker Panels (VCB & ACB) & Distribution Panels/Switchgears, Factory Lighting, Water distribution system.
• Ensure Operation & Maintenance of Press Machines, Weld machines, Robotics etc.
• Periodical statutory testing of lifting tackles / hoists, pressure vessels, firefighting equipment.

3. Team Leadership

• Monitor the performance of team members to ensure consistent improvement in efficiency of various process operations.

4. Vendor and Contract Management

• Negotiate with Service providers, Inter-departmental co-ordination for Spare management, Source identification, Vendor development.

5. TPM and Continuous Improvement

• Support productivity improvements through Continuous Improvement Projects, Kaizens & Poke-yoke.
• Promote and implement TPM activities.
• Plan & execute projects related to Renewable Power, Energy saving, Waste Management & Natural Resource consumption reduction.
• Control and progressively reduce repairs & maintenance costs through planned maintenance activities and Kaizens, ensuring results meet or exceed the plan.

6. Cost Management and Reporting

• Create MIS: Maintenance Uptime, MTTR, MTBF, Spares Consumption / Critical List, CAPA, Budgetary Control
• Record maintenance expenses budgeting for routine activities, Equipment Reconditioning / Up-gradation projects, Low-Cost Automation Integration.
• Participate in Monthly MRM, PRM & KPI review with Management.
