Hitachi ABB Power Grids seeks an experienced Industrial/Maintenance Engineer to design and maintain efficient production systems in a large manufacturing environment. You will lead maintenance planning, coordinate equipment upgrades, and drive reliability improvements across plants.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical engineering with hands-on industrial/maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 6-8 years for Diploma and 9-10 years for B.E in a large manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in Transformer/ Bushing Industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety guidelines are implemented to protect people and resources.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance work; review mechanical/electrical specs.

Job description

Manufacturing Production Process Engineering focuses on designing, developing, and implementing new or revised production processes for the efficient/economical mass production of goods including: Designing arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designing the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery in response to factory conditions. Conducting tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshooting/solving production problems. Providing guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensuring that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations An Entry Professional (P1) applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. May require the following proficiency: Work is closely supervised. Problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. Explains facts, policies and practices related to job area.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Ensure that Group and local health, safety and environment guidelines and directives are implemented and understood to ensure safety of people and resources.
  • Repair & Maintenance Engineering focuses on planning, designing and implementing maintenance programs to optimize the availability and productivity of manufacturing facilities and equipment
  • Planning and coordinating maintenance engineering work including review of mechanical and electrical engineering specifications. Performing engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts. Liaising with production staff to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules
  • Preventive, condition based and time-based maintenance of plant equipment. Draw Maintenance schedule, prepare and implement individual check point of machinery / installation, keep record of maintenance carried out.
  • Maintain records of Preventive maintenance plan & Down time in ERP system. Maintain the history card of each equipment’s to reduce downtime time in future.
  • Maintain critical spares for all equipment’s and timely generate the requisition for required spares in ERP.
  • Keeping equipment & spares record in ERP system. Need to follow up & co-ordination with different suppliers and complete project work as per timeline.
  • Maintain records for ISO, EHS audits. Attend Maintenance audit from Global / Local audit team, make audit report, close audit points, and reach to agreement.
  • Train people for best use of machinery. Find suitable suppliers, explore new suppliers, explore new solutions which could be first time of equipment used in our factory and implement Management of change policy.
  • Develop suitable suppliers for parts of imported items to match one to one replacement for spares / equipment.
  • Propose and manage the annual maintenance budget. Monitor the costs and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources and determines actions to cost issues as necessary.
  • Avoid replacement and maintain assets as it was. Metrics Reinforces focus on volume, efficiency and on time delivery.
  • Provide better working environment for employee / workmen / management staff comfort and productivity.
  • Communicates and cooperates with maintenance technicians, quality technicians and management to resolve problems of equipment or processes.
  • Coordinating logistics of resources and spare parts for all equipment’s.
  • Suggesting product and process improvements within the business to enhance operations and customer service.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
  • A Diploma / B.E in Mechanical engineering. Minimum 6-8 years for Diploma and 9-10 years for B.E and relevant experience as an Industrial / Maintenance engineer in a large manufacturing industry. Experience in Transformer/ Bushing Industry will be added advantage.
  • Fosters a culture where safety is priority and procedures and policies are followed. Quick learner with interest in and ability to master new technologies.
  • Open minded, ready to accept production work whenever situation arise.
  • Provides leadership, direction and training to employees as required.
  • Good Communication skills, Planning and Scheduling. Skilled in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Prefer knowledge of continuous improvement tools/methodologies (FMEA, lean manufacturing, 5S, MTM/TMC, DFM/DFA, Six-Sigma, 4Q, VSM, etc.)
  • Need to have detailed knowledge on winding machine, Oven, AHU, RO Plant, Airconditioning, Crane is necessary.
  • Lean tools such as SMEP, VSM, TPM will have added advantages. Installation and commissioning of equipment’s.
  • Troubleshooting potential equipment failures and proactively taking measures to offset/prevent and inform internal partners.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
