Nsight Inc. is seeking an experienced Mainframe Modernization Engineer to drive RPG-to-COBOL conversion, support testing, and lead modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze RPG applications and support their conversion to COBOL on the mainframe.
• Review converted COBOL programs for functional equivalence with RPG.
• Perform unit, functional, integration, and regression testing of converted applications.
• Support JCL testing between mainframe and GCP environments.
• Assist with modernization and migration of JCL workloads to GCP.
• Perform CICS testing across mainframe and GCP environments.
• Support migration and validation of CICS functionality during the GCP transition.
• Analyze mainframe data-quality issues, identify root causes, implement permanent fixes.
• Troubleshoot application, batch-processing, integration, and data-related issues during conversion and migration.
• Collaborate with application, mainframe, cloud, testing, and migration teams; contribute to technical documentation.

Position: Mainframe Modernization Engineer RPG to COBOL / GCP

Engagement: Mainframe Replatforming Project

Role Overview

We are looking for experienced Mainframe Modernization Engineers to support a large-scale Mainframe Replatforming initiative. The initial focus will be on RPG-to-COBOL conversion within the mainframe environment, with responsibilities expanding into application testing, modernization, migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and mainframe data remediation. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with RPG, COBOL, JCL, CICS, and mainframe systems, along with exposure to application modernization and cloud migration.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing RPG applications/programs and support their conversion to COBOL on the mainframe.
• Review converted COBOL programs to ensure functional equivalence with existing RPG functionality.
• Perform unit, functional, integration, and regression testing of converted applications.
• Support JCL testing between mainframe and GCP environments.
• Assist with the modernization and migration of JCL workloads to GCP.
• Perform CICS application and transaction testing across mainframe and GCP environments.
• Support the migration and validation of CICS-related functionality as part of the GCP transition.
• Analyze mainframe data-quality issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent fixes rather than temporary corrections.
• Troubleshoot application, batch-processing, integration, and data-related issues during conversion and migration.
• Work closely with application, mainframe, cloud, testing, and migration teams throughout the replatforming program.
• Support technical documentation related to conversions, testing, defects, migration, and remediation.
