Job summary

Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai is seeking an experienced nurse to coordinate patient care across RMOs, consultants and departments. The role involves maintaining ward discipline, hygiene, stock, and environment, while taking over patient care from night shift staff and accompanying doctors on rounds.

The incumbent will ensure treatments follow the consultant’s instructions, maintain accurate medical records, and complete discharge summaries.

Qualifications

• Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery or BSc. Nursing with 8–10 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care with RMOs, consultants, other departments and relatives.
• Maintain ward/discharge hygiene, facilities and stock (drugs, linen) and environment.
• Take over patient care from night staff and accompany doctors on rounds.
• Ensure treatment follows consultant’s instructions and proper documentation.
• Keep patient medical records up to date and ensure discharge summaries are completed.
• Prepare duty rosters and act as fire warden.
• Ensure nursing protocols are followed per SOP and staff awareness of policies.
• Plan and optimize available nursing resources to provide quality care.
• Counsel and motivate staff for better performance.

Role & Responsibilities

• 40.2 Co-ordinating patient care activities with RMOs, consultants, other departments and relatives of the patient
• 40.3 Maintaining ward/department discipline, ward/department facilities and patient environment equipment, hygiene, stock (drugs, linen), etc.
• 40.4 Take over along with other staff nurses in detail every patient from the night nurses
• 40.5 Accompany Doctor on rounds, discuss patient's condition/progress with the doctor
• 40.6 Ensure patients' treatment is carried out as per the consultant's instructions
• 40.7 Ensure proper documentation of patient's condition, treatment is carried out
• 40.8 Ensure patient's medical records, and files are kept up to date
• 40.9 Ensure the discharge summary/ card is correctly filled in by the doctor concerned.
• 40.10 Ensure all equipment, furniture are in good working condition
• 40.11 Report to the engineering dept. for necessary repair / replacement of equipment
• 40.12 Ensure adequate linen for the unit to meet emergency requirements
• 40.13 Report complaints/untoward/department incidents to the Nurse Manager/ Deputy Director Nursing/Director Nursing
• 40.14 To prepare duty rota of the nurses
• 40.15 To act as fire warden
• 40.16 Planning and organizing available human resources in the given environment to provide quality care to patients in the unit
• 40.17 To prepare training calendar, conduct departmental training and evaluate the nurses.
• 40.18 Will ensure all nursing protocols are followed in the hospital as per the SOP.
• 40.19 Ensure that all staff is aware of the existing policies and procedures relevant to their job profile
• 40.20 Ensure staff under take all safety precautions in handling patients
• 40.21 Counsel and motivate staff for better performance
• 40.22 Attend all executive meeting
• 40.23 Supervises support staff
• 40.24 Maintains required ledgers/registers in the unit
• 40.25 Ensure dangerous drug record / register is maintained accurately and the drugs kept under lock and key
