Responsibilities

• Report to the Deputy Medical Superintendent.

• Maintain discipline among nursing and staff.
• Monitor attendance and ensure duties are performed.
• Prepare duty rosters for nursing and staff.
• Allocate duties during sudden absences.
• Supervise hospital staff and ensure instructions are followed.
• Recommend personnel and material needs for nursing services.
• Perform regular rounds and report unresolved issues.
• Ensure cleanliness, maintenance of hospital, linen, clothes, beds, furniture, etc.
• Ensure safe and efficient patient care in wards.
• Oversee surgical instruments and medical appliances and maintain ledgers.
• Provide counseling and guidance to staff.
• Investigate nursing care complaints and report to DMS/HR.
• Manage diet arrangements for patients.
• Maintain cordial relations and observing visiting hours.
• Follow aseptic precautions and Biomedical Waste guidelines.
• Plan induction/orientation for staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by DMS/ administration.
• Assist surgeons in surgical procedures if required.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Report to the Deputy Medical Superintendent of the hospital.

2. Be actively involved in patients care.

3. Maintain discipline amongst nursing and other staff.

4. Maintain a check on the attendance of hospital and nursing staff and see that the staffs are employed on their legitimate duties.

5. Prepare duty lists & Roster of nursing staff and other subordinate staff.

6. Allocate duty to keep up the smoothly work in case of sudden absence in part of nursing staff.

7. Supervise the work of the hospital staff and ensure that the instructions of the Deputy Medical Superintendent in respect of individual patients are correctly carried out.

8. Recommend personnel and material requirement for various nursing service departments of the hospital

9. Carry out regular rounds of the hospital. Deal with all problems met with during your rounds on the spot as far as possible. The matter you cannot settle yourself, you have to report to the Deputy Medical Superintendent.

10. Responsible for proper cleanliness and maintenance of the hospital, and matters related to hospital linen, patients clothing, beds, furniture etc.

11. Ensure that safe and efficient care is rendered to patients in various wards etc.

12. Be in charge -of surgical instruments and medical appliances in the operation theatre and wards, hospital linen, clothes, beds, crockery, cutlery, furniture, utensils, other tools and plants and maintain all ledgers pertaining to these items.

13. Be responsible for counseling and guidance to sub-ordinate staff.

14. Investigate all complaints regarding nursing care and personnel, and inform to Deputy Medical Superintendent /HR.

15. Look after diet arrangements for the patients.

16. Maintain cordial relations with patients and paramedical staff. Ensure that the visiting hours are strictly observed.

17. Observe Universal aseptic precautions strictly and ensure compliance of Bio Medical Waste Management guidelines.

18. Prepare Plan for Induction or Orientation for staff.

19. Any other duties and responsibilities entrusted by the Deputy Medical Superintendent /administration.

20. Assist the Surgeon in All types of surgical procedures, if required.

21. Maintain all records in connection with the nursing side of the hospital.

Preferred candidate profile

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in Hospital Administration and Hospital Services.

Required Qualification:
