WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Manager Logistics & Warehouse is responsible for the end-to-end movement and storage of materials at the plant from receipt of raw materials, packing materials and consumables, through in-plant storage and issue to production, to the packing, documentation and dispatch of finished goods.

The role is accountable for inventory accuracy, on-time dispatch, transport and freight management, statutory documentation, and the safety and discipline of all storage and loading operations, reporting to the Plant Head.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
  • An excellent team player, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organisation and motivation; you are able to act on your own initiative to solve problems.
  • Comfortable with accepting responsibility and owning numbers across the plants.
  • High integrity, hands-on approach, and willingness to put in extra effort to deliver results.
EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate in any discipline; Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain / Logistics / Materials Management will be preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in stores, warehouse and dispatch operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience of running a plant store GRN, bin management, FIFO discipline, physical stock verification and reconciliation.
  • Strong working knowledge of GST dispatch documentation, E-Way Bill generation, and transport documentation (LR / consignment note, weighment, insurance claims).
  • Practical exposure to material handling equipment, safe stacking practice and warehouse fire and safety norms.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inbound Materials & Receipt
  • Plan and schedule inbound vehicles in coordination with Purchase and Production to avoid line stoppages and demurrage.
  • Supervise unloading, weighment, and physical verification of incoming raw material, packing material, spares and consumables against Purchase Order and supplier documents.
  • Ensure timely raising of Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) in the ERP and coordinate with Quality for inspection, acceptance, quarantine or rejection.
  • Manage rejected, short-supplied and damaged consignments documentation, supplier debit notes, and return-to-vendor movement.
  • Maintain lot-wise identification and traceability of incoming material from the point of receipt.
Storage & Inventory Control
  • Own warehouse layout and space planning — defined bin/rack locations, grade-wise and lot-wise segregation, safe stacking heights, and clear demarcation of quarantine, rejected and scrap areas.
  • Enforce FIFO/FEFO issue discipline for all stored material.
  • Conduct daily/weekly cycle counts and periodic physical stock verification; reconcile with ERP records and investigate and close all variances.
  • Monitor minimum, maximum and reorder levels and raise timely indents to Purchase.
  • Review ageing, slow-moving, obsolete and non-moving stock monthly and drive liquidation or disposal with management approval.
  • Ensure appropriate storage conditions — protection from moisture, contamination, sunlight and cross-mixing of grades.
Finished Goods, Packing & Dispatch
  • Receive finished goods from production against production entries, verify batch, grade, bag/package weight and labelling before taking into stock.
  • Plan and execute despatches against approved Sales Orders and delivery schedules, in coordination with Sales/Marketing.
  • Supervise picking, packing, palletising, labelling and loading; ensure load security and correct vehicle selection.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all dispatch documentation — Delivery Challan, Tax Invoice, E-Way Bill, Packing List, LR / Consignment Note, Test Certificate / COA and any customer-specific documents.
  • Track consignments in transit and resolve delays, shortages, damages and delivery disputes; drive claims with transporters and insurers.
Transport & Logistics Management
  • Arrange and schedule vehicles; negotiate freight rates and maintain an approved transporter panel with rate contracts.
  • Evaluate transporter performance on cost, turnaround time, vehicle condition, damages and documentation compliance.
  • Verify and process freight bills, detention/demurrage claims and transporter payments in coordination with Accounts.
  • Coordinate import/export consignments where applicable — CHA liaison, shipping documents, customs clearance and port/ICD follow-up.
  • Control vehicle turnaround time at the gate and within the plant.
Systems, Documentation & MIS
  • Ensure every physical movement — receipt, issue, transfer, return, dispatch — is recorded in the ERP on a real-time basis, with zero backdated or pending entries.
  • Maintain stock ledgers, bin cards, gate registers, weighbridge records and dispatch registers as per defined formats.
  • Publish daily/weekly/monthly MIS on stock position, receipts, despatches, freight cost and pending orders.
  • Draft, implement and periodically review SOPs for receipt, storage, issue, packing and despatch.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with GST documentation requirements including E-Way Bill generation, validity and closure.
  • Maintain records required for statutory and environmental compliance relating to inward and outward movement of materials, scrap and waste, as applicable to the plant.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for internal audits, statutory audits, customer audits and ISO / management system audits.
Safety, Housekeeping & Assets
  • Enforce safe material handling, safe stacking and use of PPE by all warehouse and contract personnel.
  • Ensure fire safety readiness of storage areas — clear aisles, accessible extinguishers/hydrants, controlled ignition sources and adherence to permitted storage limits.
  • Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards across all storage and loading areas.
  • Manage material handling equipment (forklifts, hydra, pallet trucks, weighbridge) — availability, preventive maintenance, operator licensing and statutory testing.
People Management
  • Plan manpower and shift rosters for stores, dispatch and loading operations.
  • Supervise, train and appraise the store and dispatch team; build multi-skilling and back-up for critical roles.
  • Manage contract labour deployment, attendance, discipline and compliance with contractor obligations.
Cost Control
  • Prepare and control the warehouse and logistics budget covering freight, packing material, contract manpower, equipment and consumables.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives — load optimisation, return-load utilisation, packaging rationalisation and route consolidation.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Strong numerical and record-keeping discipline.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse layout, material handling equipment and safe storage practice
  • Negotiation skills for freight and transporter management
  • Ability to coordinate across Production, Quality, Purchase, Sales and Accounts
  • Problem-solving under time pressure — vehicle delays, urgent despatches, stock-outs
  • ERP and systems oriented, with strong MIS and Excel capability
  • Integrity and reliability in handling company stock and assets
