Job summary

Ashland India Private Ltd. is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to oversee warehouse operations at the Ambernath plant in Mumbai, ensuring seamless receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials. The role reports to the Plant Manager and is onsite.

You will coordinate with production, QA, QC, procurement, and planning teams, maintain GMP-compliant warehouse practices, and support audits and improvements while ensuring inventory accuracy and timely material availability.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in warehouse and logistics operations in pharmaceutical, excipient, chemical, food, or regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in SAP ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise receipt, storage, issuance, and dispatch of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods.
  • Ensure proper segregation, identification, and storage of materials as per GMP requirements.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities with transporters and vendors.
  • Monitor loading and unloading activities to ensure safe material handling.
  • Maintain FIFO/FEFO inventory management practices.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to production as per production plans.
  • Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Procurement, and Planning teams for smooth operations.
  • Assist in investigations and closure of deviations, CAPA, and change controls related to warehouse operations.

This is a very visible, significant role within the Company, the position will report to the Plant manager. This is a Onsite full time position.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Supervise receipt, storage, issuance, and dispatch of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods.
  • Ensure proper segregation, identification, and storage of materials as per GMP requirements.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities with transporters and vendors.
  • Monitor loading and unloading activities to ensure safe material handling.
  • Maintain FIFO/FEFO inventory management practices.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to production as per production plans.
  • Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Procurement, and Planning teams for smooth operations.
  • Perform and monitor SAP transactions related to: Goods Receipt (GRN) Goods Issue (GI) Transfer Posting Stock Transfer Inventory Reconciliation Batch Management Dispatch Documentation Ensure real-time and accurate inventory transactions in SAP.
  • Generate inventory, stock movement, and logistics reports from SAP.
  • Support inventory audits and cycle count activities.
  • Ensure warehouse and logistics activities comply with GMP, GDP, and company quality requirements.
  • Maintain documentation as per GMP requirements.
  • Ensure proper status labeling of materials (Approved, Quarantine, Rejected).
  • Participate in GMP training programs and ensure team compliance.
  • Support audits conducted by customers, regulatory agencies, and internal auditors.
  • Assist in investigation and closure of deviations, CAPA, and change controls related to warehouse operations.
  • Monitor stock levels and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Conduct periodic cycle counts and annual physical inventory verification.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Minimize inventory losses, damages, and obsolescence.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS policies and safe warehouse practices.
  • Monitor safe operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, stackers, and pallet trucks.
  • Conduct safety inspections and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Report and address unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.
  • Supervise warehouse operators and logistics staff.
  • Allocate daily work and monitor performance.
  • Provide training on GMP, SAP, safety, and warehouse procedures.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement initiatives.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
  • Overall, 3-5 years of experience in warehouse and logistics operations in pharmaceutical, excipient, chemical, food, or regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience in SAP ERP systems.
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
  • Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Science, or related discipline.
  • Diploma or certification in Supply Chain/Logistics Management preferred.
