Job summary

Adani Enterprises Limited invites a seasoned Head of Transport Operations to design a group-wide transportation strategy, lead national planning, and deploy a centralized TMS across 3000+ vehicles. You will build a high-performing national transport team, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive spend efficiency.

You will oversee governance, vendor performance, and cost rationalization while aligning with BU leaders to deliver service excellence across India.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in Transport Operations, Fleet Management, Logistics, Mobility Services, Corporate Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a Group-wide transportation strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead national planning, route optimization, and long-term capacity design to enhance service and ROI.
  • Establish a strong governance framework to ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability across transportation operations.
  • Provide regular assurance to leadership on spend control, vendor compliance, and performance standards.
  • Drive internal audits, compliance checks, and corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure compliance to respective processes w.r.t. governance protocols
  • Drive the standardization of Transport services across group.
  • Lead the deployment of a centralized Transportation Management System (TMS) and digitization initiatives.
  • Ensure all 3000+ vehicles are integrated under a unified Central Command Center for real-time monitoring, analytics, and decision-making.
  • Make recommendations to the concerned teams to add features and upgrade the transport portal to enhance user experience & signoff key features and functionalities of the portal and other tools as applicable
  • Define and enforce standard operating procedures for vehicle sourcing, vendor engagement, billing, and documentation.
  • Institutionalize process rigor across all locations and business units.
  • Update the SOP’s from time to time keeping in consideration the business dynamics and user requirements
  • Partner with techno-commercial and BU teams to analyze spend trends & rate structures.
  • Monitor transport resource utilization and optimize allocation across BUs to reduce idle time and inefficiencies.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising service or compliance.
  • Build a pan-India network of reliable transport partners.
  • Oversee vendor performance, SLA compliance, and periodic re-evaluations to ensure continuity and quality of service.
  • Conduct Quarterly reviews with service partners, ensuring SLA and performance levels are achieved
  • Manage and optimize the Group’s 400 Cr plus transportation budget.
  • Provide strategic inputs on budget planning, variance analysis, and cost rationalization.
  • Ensure full adherence to national and state-level transport regulations and safety mandates.
  • Lead risk identification and develop mitigation frameworks, including business continuity planning.
  • Act as the Group’s transport strategy lead, aligning with BU heads and senior stakeholders to drive operational efficiency, compliance, and cost visibility.
  • Build and lead a high-performing national transport team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop strong internal working relationships with all departments
  • Prepare FAQs and monitor timely resolution of queries raised at the Traveller Helpdesk; Address escalations if any and provide guidance to teams to effectively resolve all queries/ grievances
  • Analyse service performance and traveller satisfaction levels (through formal / informal feedback) and pilot strategic initiatives to drive process improvements.
