Lead Structural Engineer - T&D Pipelines
Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) T&D Pipelines is looking for a dynamic and self‑motivated Lead Structural Engineer to support our T&D Pipeline Engineering and Design Team in the Mumbai/Bangalore Office. T&D Pipeline offers depth and breadth of experience in cross‑country pipeline projects, RNG’s, M&R Stations, Compressor stations etc., covering a wide range of design and project execution experiences. The candidate will lead a team of engineers and designers, analyze and design structures including steel and foundation design of T&D Pipeline projects, and will execute projects that involve both conventional engineering practices and complex situations, requiring innovative solutions relative to work practices and procedures. This position can influence the growth and success of the Pipeline & Facilities group, with opportunities to advance into leadership roles.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers and designers to independently execute M&R / compressor station / RNG plant EPC type projects.
- Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
- Support structural design of projects from the conceptual phase to detailed design phase.
- Analyze and design structures consisting of steel and foundation design of T&D Pipelines.
- Prepare structural specifications, design details, and calculations for steel, foundations and substructures for Piperack, pipe support & cable tray support, tech structures, equipment foundation, building foundations, cooler foundation, skid foundation, transformer foundation, vessel foundation, etc.
- Review structural, equipment vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, client(s) and other stakeholder(s) to develop a clash‑free system design.
- Quality review of production drawings for a variety of projects and project related data.
- Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
- Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited program with minimum 12 years of experience (completion of a master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
- Advanced knowledge of industrial standards and codes such as AISC, ACI, IBC, PIP.
- Strong computer skills including structural analysis programs e.g., RISA, STAAD, AutoCAD, and Mathcad.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Ability to make informal and formal presentations, inside and/or outside the organization.
- Ability to organize or prioritize own work schedule on a short‑term basis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Applies strong knowledge of commonly used structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes and procedures within the structural engineering services industry.
- Develop and improve processes, tools, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong preference for those with US project experience.
- Beneficial but not required to have: Experience with civil design viz; grading, stormwater, drainage design.
