Structural Designer (REVIT) - T&D

Burns & McDonnell India’s Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team works worldwide on substation, transmission, and pipeline projects.

Job Description

The role supports our T&D Pipeline Engineering and Design Team in the Mumbai/Bangalore Office. You will be responsible for structural 3D modelling using Revit, drafting, and running clash checks on pipeline projects.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• 3D modelling and 2D drafting of foundations and steel, creating general arrangement drawings using REVIT (Structural) and AutoCAD to produce construction deliverables such as foundation plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings.
• Produce steel plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings.
• Prepare location layouts and key plans.
• Create bill of quantities (BOQ) and material take-offs (MTOs).
• Generate stairs, ladders, and miscellaneous items.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to develop a clash‑free 3D model and drawings.
• Manage the assigned scope within the agreed schedule and budget, complying with project quality norms.
• Assist engineers in preparing, coordinating, and reviewing deliverables for the discipline.
• Work independently; be a committed team player.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the USA counterpart.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or ITI with at least 6 years of experience.
• Experience in industrial/commercial design drafting, development of general arrangement drawings, foundation and steel layouts and detail drawings.
• Strong diagrammatic and 3D conceptual skills.
• Working knowledge of international codes and standards (AISC, ACI, PIP, etc.) used in manufacturing, industrial, and commercial projects.
• Proficiency in REVIT (Structural); knowledge of Tekla and other tools is an advantage.
• Experience with coordination tools such as Navisworks and AutoCAD‑2D.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
