Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a Lead QA to own the quality strategy for its Next Generation Platform. You will drive risk-based testing across software services, PLC integration, HMI, and end-to-end warehouse workflows, ensuring releases are fit for pilots and production.

You’ll build automation, mentor teams, and align with Product and Engineering to define clear acceptance criteria early in delivery cycles.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software quality-engineering experience, including leadership.

Role purpose

The Lead QA will own the quality strategy and verification approach for the Next Generation Platform. The role leads risk-based testing across software services, robotic controls, PLC integration, Edge/HMI, data acquisition, deployment pipelines, and end-to-end warehouse workflows, ensuring releases are fit for pilot and production use.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the program quality strategy, test architecture, quality gates, traceability model, and release-acceptance criteria.
• Lead QA planning across unit, component, contract, API, integration, system, end-to-end, regression, performance, resilience, security, usability, and upgrade testing.
• Establish automation frameworks and reusable test assets for Java/Spring Boot services, APIs, web HMI, data flows, and deployment validation.
• Design simulation, emulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and test-environment approaches for PLCs, robot controllers, material flow, and equipment-dependent scenarios.
• Validate robotic transport execution, controls integration, fault recovery, operational workflows, and safety-related interfaces in collaboration with controls and safety specialists.
• Build coverage for modernization risks such as behavioral compatibility, data migration, service extraction, API versioning, and mixed legacy/new deployments.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to make requirements testable and define clear acceptance criteria early.
• Manage defect triage, root-cause analysis, escape analysis, quality reporting, and corrective/preventive actions.
• Lead readiness assessments for pilots, product-line rollouts, customer deployments, and release stabilization.
• Integrate automated tests and evidence into CI/CD pipelines with the DevSecOps Lead.
• Mentor QA engineers and promote shared quality ownership across development teams.
• Ensure test evidence and documentation meet applicable organizational, customer, security, and safety expectations.

Required experience and capabilities

• Minimum 8 years of software quality-engineering experience, including at least 2 years leading QA for complex integrated products or platforms.
• Strong experience designing test strategies and automation for APIs, distributed services, UI applications, and data integrations.
• Proficiency with modern automated testing practices and CI/CD integration; ability to guide framework selection and write/review test code.
• Experience with performance, resilience, failure-recovery, and non-functional testing for operationally critical systems.
• Strong defect analysis, risk assessment, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience testing warehouse automation, robotics, PLC/control systems, embedded/Edge products, or other cyber-physical systems is highly desirable.
• Understanding of Java/Spring Boot architectures, service contracts, databases, messaging, observability, and secure-development practices.
• Ability to coordinate test teams, environments, equipment, and dependencies across multiple workstreams and releases.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
• Relevant testing certification or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with functional-safety validation boundaries; formal safety sign-off remains with appropriately qualified safety personnel.
