Job summary

Linde is seeking a Lead Project Controls Engineer in India to lead planning, scheduling, cost management, budgeting, forecasting and risk oversight for EPC and capital projects. You will coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commercial and Finance to ensure baselines are maintained and performance is reported accurately.

The role emphasizes delivering commercial insights, dashboards, and governance-ready reports, with mentoring and training for junior staff and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in project controls, cost control, planning and scheduling.
  • Experience on EPC projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power, infrastructure or process industries.
  • Experience supporting global projects is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Establish budgets, cost baselines, and control systems.
  • Perform monthly cost reporting, forecasting, EAC and ETC analysis.
  • Prepare PCS, FCS, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor expenditures, commitments, accruals, and POs.
  • Develop cost reports, waterfalls, S-curves, and dashboards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and contingency analysis.
  • Support change orders and variation claims.
  • Interface with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commercial and Finance.

Job description

The Lead Project Controls Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive project controls leadership across planning, scheduling, cost management, budgeting, forecasting, risk assessment, and performance reporting for EPC and capital projects. The role ensures projects are executed within approved cost and schedule baselines through effective monitoring, analysis, stakeholder coordination, and implementation of project control best practices, while delivering accurate forecasting, commercial insights, and management information to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

  • Establish project budgets, cost baselines, and control systems.
  • Perform monthly cost reporting, forecasting, Estimate at Completion (EAC), and Estimate to Complete (ETC) analysis.
  • Prepare Project Cost Status (PCS), Forecast Cost Status (FCS), cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor project expenditures, commitments, accruals, and purchase orders.
  • Analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop cost reports, waterfall charts, S-curves, and financial dashboards.
  • Perform project risk assessments and contingency analysis.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and potential cost overruns.
  • Support preparation and evaluation of change orders and variation claims.
  • Conduct delay analysis and schedule recovery assessments.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations and claim management activities.
  • Maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans
  • Interface with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commercial, and Finance teams.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support project reviews and governance meetings.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior project control professionals.
  • Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions on project control methodologies and systems.
  • Generate reports and dashboards through Power BI and Excel.
  • Manage cost and schedule data within SAP and project control systems.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with organizational project control procedures
  • Monitor critical path activities and perform schedule impact assessments.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules and detailed execution schedules.
  • Conduct schedule performance analysis using Earned Value Management (EVM), SPI, CPI, and productivity metrics.

Required qualifications/experience
  • Experience in the relevant field, for more than 10 Years for Graduate Engineer and experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Planning & Scheduling.
  • Experience in EPC projects within Oil & Gas, Industrial Gases, Refining, Petrochemicals, Power, Infrastructure, Metals & Mining, or Process Industries.
  • Experience supporting global projects is highly desirable.
