AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Lead Transport Planner to drive strategic modelling across international markets. You will develop, maintain and enhance transport models, supporting planning and investment decisions with evidence-based solutions.
With 10+ years in transport planning, you will lead teams, work with GIS tools, scripting and data analysis, and contribute to multidisciplinary master planning initiatives within a flexible, hybrid work environment.
Be at the forefront of strategic transport planning and modelling. As a Lead Transport Planner, you will help deliver transformational projects worldwide, from strategic model development and local plan assessments to supporting major development and master planning initiatives, enabling sustainable and future-ready transport networks. Your role You will contribute to the delivery of strategic transport modelling projects across global markets, supporting the development of evidence-based solutions that inform planning and investment decisions. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including strategic transport model development, local plan modelling, development impact assessments and concept master planning support. Working closely with strategic modelling teams across the world, you will help to develop, maintain, and enhance transport models that support sustainable growth, mobility planning, and infrastructure development.
Essential Requirements Appropriate academic and professional qualifications (Bachelor’s Degree with Master’s degree in transport planning / economics) Working experience (10+ years) in Transport Planning software like VISUM, SATURN, DIADEM, EMME. Experience and knowledge of Strategic Modelling techniques and guidance. Knowledge and experience in delivering transport planning/modelling projects for UK/ME/ USA/ Canada/ Australia regions Strong Analytical skills with experience in handling and interpreting complex datasets Experience in scripting using like Python, Excel-VBA and R. Strong understanding of ArcGIS/QGIS, PowerBI and Microsoft Office applications Ability to work in a team as part of a wider project with minimal supervision. Experience in leading smaller teams as part of a project delivery Good written communication skills.
