The role requires 15–20+ years in MEPF design, strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and a track record in value engineering for high-value projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead MEPF design management from concept to GFC drawings.

• Coordinate with consultants, designers, and execution teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Review designs, load calculations, equipment sizing, and design bases.
• Support sustainability initiatives and compliance with NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, IGBC/LEED.

Job description

Purpose/Objective

• The Lead – MEPF Design & Value Engineering will be responsible for leading the design management, technical review, optimization, and value engineering of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting (MEPF), ELV, ICT, BMS, and Utility Systems across residential, commercial, institutional, hospitality, industrial, and township projects.
• The role will ensure technically sound, cost-effective, sustainable, and operationally efficient solutions from concept development through project execution and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities of Role

• MEPF Design Management - Lead the review and coordination of MEPF designs from concept stage to detailed engineering and GFC drawings.
• - Ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and statutory regulations.
• - Review load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and design basis reports.
• - Coordinate design integration with architectural, structural, landscape, and infrastructure teams.
• - Ensure constructability and maintainability considerations are incorporated during design development.
• Value Engineering & Cost Optimization - Drive value engineering initiatives across all MEPF systems without compromising safety, quality, functionality, and operational efficiency.
• - Identify opportunities for capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) optimization.
• - Evaluate alternative technologies, materials, equipment, and construction methodologies.
• - Conduct lifecycle cost analysis and return-on-investment assessments.
• - Recommend engineering solutions to improve project efficiency and reduce overall project costs.
• Consultant & Design Coordination - Manage MEPF consultants, specialist agencies, peer reviewers, and technical advisors.
• - Conduct regular design review workshops and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
• - Review consultant deliverables, technical reports, drawings, BOQs, specifications, and tender documents.
• - Ensure timely delivery of all engineering milestones and design packages.
• Technical Review & Engineering Excellence - Review HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, ICT, Security, Solar, BMS, Water Treatment, STP, WTP, and Utility Infrastructure designs.
• - Verify system capacities, energy efficiency measures, redundancy requirements, and operational performance.
• - Ensure adherence to international and national standards including NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, ECBC, IGBC/LEED, and local regulations.
• - Establish engineering standards and best practices across projects.
• Procurement & Tendering Support - Review technical specifications, RFPs, BOQs, and tender packages.
• - Provide technical support during vendor prequalification, bid evaluation, and technical negotiations.
• - Review vendor technical submissions and material approvals.
• - Support contract finalization and procurement strategy development.
• Execution & Commissioning Support - Coordinate with site teams during construction and installation phases.
• - Review shop drawings, coordinated drawings, technical submittals, and method statements.
• - Resolve design-related issues during execution.
• - Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• - Ensure systems perform as per approved design intent and project requirements.
• Sustainability & Energy Management - Implement energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable engineering solutions.
• - Drive integration of renewable energy systems and green building initiatives.
• - Support IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, or equivalent sustainability certifications.
• - Promote water conservation, energy management, and carbon footprint reduction initiatives.
• Statutory Approvals & Compliance - Coordinate with consultants and authorities for statutory approvals related to MEPF systems.
• - Ensure compliance with fire safety, electrical inspectorate, environmental, and utility authority requirements.
• - Review submissions and obtain necessary approvals within project timelines.

Technical Competencies

• Strong expertise in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, ICT, BMS, Solar, Utility Infrastructure, and Sustainability Systems.
• ,Knowledge of NBC, Building Standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM Platforms, MS Project, and MS Office.
• Strong understanding of BOQs, specifications, tendering, budgeting, and lifecycle costing.
• Experience in digital engineering and BIM coordination.

Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Qualification - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• - Master’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Energy Management, or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
• - Professional certifications related to HVAC, Energy Management, Fire Safety, BIM, or Sustainability preferred.
• Experience - 15 to 20+ years of experience in MEPF design management and project engineering.
• - Experience in large-scale residential, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, industrial, institutional, and township developments.
• - Proven experience in value engineering and optimization of high-value projects.
• - Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and execution teams.
• - Exposure from Concept Design to Commissioning and Handover stages.
