Job description

The Heat Exchanger engineering department needs to reinforce its team with a lead mechanical engineer. The engineer will be in charge of performing the mechanical design of heat exchangers as per applicable rules and standards. He or she must ensure the quality of the manufacturing drawing as per calculations and good engineering practice.

Responsibilities

• Executing if required the analytical mechanical calculations for the sizing of products during the tender phase
• Executing contract and specification reading to identify critical areas prior to designing equipment
• Executing and leading the mechanical sizing of products considering client specifications, directives, internal guidelines, design instructions, input data and conception rules
• Checking the documentation and notes sent to clients
• Checking the manufacturing drawing of equipment
• Organising, presenting or participating in internal design review meetings
• Participating on demand in client clarification meetings
• Working in interface with thermal engineering and manufacturing quality teams for design optimisation
• Challenging the Mechanical Integrity team by checking boundary conditions of Finite Element models and calculation results
• Answering to customer issues
• Contributing to design rule updates
• Providing proposals for design improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives based on the project’s return of experience
• Reviewing Concession Requests (CR) and/or Non‑Conformity Reports (NCR) related to products in manufacturing
• Ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including Nuclear Safety requirements
• Ensuring compliance with EHS rules and contributing to EHS improvement across the product life cycle
• Reporting to management with authority
• Interacting with engineers worldwide from internal and external design and manufacturing teams
• Coordinating design engineers and technicians

Required Competences

• 5+ years of experience in engineering activities in an industrial environment
• Experience in power plant engineering
• Technical know‑how
• Strong knowledge of pressure‑vessel codes and heat‑exchange equipment standards and guidelines (ASME, EN13445, CODAP, AD2000 mandatory, WRC107, RCCM, GB-150, TEMA, HEI helpful)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering physics
• Strong knowledge of FEA principles
• Skills in FEA software (ANSYS) helpful (but not mandatory)
• Understanding of vessels and heater exchanger thermal design concepts
• High skill in at least one pressure‑vessel calculation software (AutoPipe Vessel, Compress, PVElite)
• High competence in engineering technical drawing construction and good engineering practices
• Familiarity with CAD tools: CATIA, Autodesk products or equivalent
• Knowledge of plant guidelines & diagrams as P&ID reading and checking
