Role
Lead Engineer- Front and Rear Stabilizer Bar (Passenger Car)
- You will shape the future BMW vehicles dynamics by bringing brake systems to life through precise CAD modelling, Concept and engineering execution.
- Contribute to concept development, CAD engineering, packaging, and validation of Front Stabilizer Bars (Anti-Roll Bars) and Rear Stabilizer Bars across vehicle platforms.
- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and release documentation for stabilizer bars and associated mounting systems.
- Lead component development from concept through series production, ensuring compliance with vehicle dynamics, durability, weight, cost, and manufacturing targets.
- Work closely with Vehicle Dynamics, Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Body, CAE, Manufacturing, Testing, and Supplier Engineering teams.
- Support prototype builds, vehicle integration activities, testing, validation, and engineering change management throughout the development lifecycle.
- Drive optimization of ride comfort, handling performance, roll control, and suspension kinematics through stabilizer bar system development.
What should you bring along
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in automotive suspension system design and development for passenger cars.
- Knowledge of automotive design standards, engineering release processes, and product development methodologies.
- Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in wheel product development.
- Proactive, teamwork-oriented mindset with the ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in English, additional German language skills are an advantage.

- Design and development of:
- Front Stabilizer Bars (Anti-Roll Bars),
- Hollow Stabilizer Bars,
- Performance-Oriented Roll Control Systems.
- Strong understanding of stabilizer bar functionality and vehicle roll behavior.
- Expertise in torsional stiffness calculations and roll stiffness distribution.
- Understanding of front-to-rear roll balance and its impact on understeer and oversteer characteristics.
- Knowledge of vehicle handling performance, cornering behavior, and ride comfort requirements.
- Experience defining stabilizer bar diameters, wall thicknesses, arm lengths, and geometry optimization
- Stabilizer Mounting Systems Design and development:
- Stabilizer Bar Bushings,
- Bushing Brackets,
- Mounting Clamps,
- End Links / Drop Links,
- Ball Joint Connections,
- Chassis Integration Brackets.
- Understanding of bushing stiffness tuning and vibration isolation requirements.
- Knowledge of mounting load paths and durability requirements.
- Experience with packaging and interface management within vehicle architectures.
- Strong understanding of:
Suspension Kinematics, Compliance, Characteristics, Roll Gradient, Roll Center Behaviour, Wheel Travel, Lateral Load Transfer, Ride & Handling Performance
- Knowledge of front and rear suspension package constraints.
- Support vehicle dynamics tuning activities and suspension optimization studies.
- Experience with durability and fatigue design of torsion bars and suspension components.
- Understanding of:

- Knowledge of global automotive regulations and chassis engineering standards.
- EV and Hybrid Vehicle suspension development experience.
- Lightweight suspension design and cost optimization techniques.
