Job summary

TransUnion is seeking a Lead Engineer, Development Ops to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes-based environments in a hybrid work setup. The role collaborates with architects, DevOps, Release Management, and SRE teams to deliver scalable, secure CI/CD capabilities that enhance developer productivity.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in DevOps/CI/CD, strong scripting and IaC skills (Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu), and experience with

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, platform engineering, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Experience with artifact management using JFrog Artifactory.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, Bash, Ansible).
• Strong Git-based version control with branching strategies and pull request workflows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams, with the ability to own a technical solution through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using Harness Engineer solutions aligned with architectural designs
• Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes-based environments and deployments using Helm
• Ensure CI/CD pipelines and artifacts meet security and compliance requirements
• Manage and improve base image creation and patching processes
• Optimize artifact management using Artifactory and JFrog CLI
• Learn, adopt, and align with OneDev, TransUnion's internal platform, to support standardized CI/CD practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in CI/CD pipelines, builds, and supporting systems
• Support pipelines and builds across lower environments (DevLab), including QA and pre-production stages
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews within the team
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in automation, tooling, and processes
• Learn, adopt, and align with OneDev, TransUnion's internal platform, to support standardized CI/CD practices

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer collaborates closely with the architects on the team to engineer and implement solutions aligned with defined architectural designs. This role supports and improves continuous integration pipelines and developer tooling, and partners with Development, Release Management, and Site Reliability Engineering to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable CI/CD capabilities that improve developer productivity.

• Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using Harness Engineer solutions aligned with architectural designs
• Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes-based environments and deployments using Helm
• Ensure CI/CD pipelines and artifacts meet security and compliance requirements
• Manage and improve base image creation and patching processes
• Optimize artifact management using Artifactory and JFrog CLI
• Learn, adopt, and align with OneDev, TransUnion's internal platform, to support standardized CI/CD practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in CI/CD pipelines, builds, and supporting systems
• Support pipelines and builds across lower environments (DevLab), including QA and pre-production stages
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews within the team
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in automation, tooling, and processes
• Work within a SAFe Agile delivery model, participating in sprint planning, story refinement and estimation, daily stand-ups, and quarterly PI Planning

Required Knowledge And Experiences 5+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, platform engineering, or a related field Strong hands-on experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines (Harness preferred; Jenkins or similar acceptable) Experience with containerized environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu Experience with artifact management using JFrog Artifactory Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, Bash, Ansible) Strong experience with Git-based version control, including branching strategies and pull request workflows Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail Effective communication and collaboration across teams, with the ability to own a technical solution through implementation
