Job summary

Talent Hired-the Job Store in Vijayawada seeks an extended body engineering design lead for a bus body plant. You will be the primary contact for design concerns raised by manufacturing and the interface for new product development.

The role requires hands‑on leadership of a design team at the plant, with responsibility for proto, pilot and production sign‑offs and improving throughputs through design changes.

Qualifications

• Experience in fully built bus design and bus body building processes.
• Ability to lead design teams at a plant and coordinate cross‑functional groups.
• Proven track record in production to print, DFM, DFA and design change implementation.
• Strong root cause analysis and corrective action planning for design issues.

Responsibilities

• Ensure production to print by streamlining all throughput processes.
• Lead and motivate the design team located at the Vijayawada plant.
• Lead fitment verification and sign‑off of bus body parts in the plant.
• Create the master DFM and DFA for the body with respect to design.
• Provide feedback to central product development on proto/pilot for corrective action.
• Lead and track engineering design change implementation in the plant.
• Create the master CTQ list and run audits to improve manufacturing quality.
• Lead root cause analysis for design issues and coordinate with central team for actions.
• Support corrective actions in production with Quality team.
• Track stage‑wise inspection of proto/pilot builds for weight and build quality.
• Verify EBOM clarity for MBOM creation and completeness.

Role & responsibilities

Position Summary

This is the extended body engineering design lead for a bus body plant, accountable for smooth execution of proto, pilot and production of fully built buses designed by the central product development team. The lead is the single point of contact and solution provider for design concerns raised by manufacturing, and the interface between design and manufacturing for new product development.

There is one open position, at the Vijayawada plant. The lead also leads the design team located at the plant and is a member of the DFM and DFA review team on bus body design. The role needs a hands‑on fully built bus design specialist who can lead cross-functional teams, not only an individual contributor.

3. Must Have Skills

• Experience in fully built bus design
• Bus body building process and aggregates, with troubleshooting of fully built buses
• Production to print, DFM and DFA, and engineering design change implementation in plant
• Root cause analysis of design issues with interim and permanent corrective actions
• Leading a design team and cross-functional teams at a plant

4. Good To Have Skills

• EBOM and MBOM review and clarity for manufacturing
• Part approval and PPAP sign-off support
• PQRM and BVQRM participation
• Installation drawings and work instructions with the process planning team
• Proficiency in Hindi, English and Telugu
• Good academic track record and strong written and oral communication

5. Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure production to print by streamlining all throughput processes.
• Lead and motivate the design team located at the plant.
• Lead fitment verification and sign-off of bus body parts in the plant.
• Create the master DFM and DFA for the body with respect to design.
• Give feedback to the central product development team on proto and pilot sign-off observations for intermediate and permanent corrective action before design release.
• Lead and track engineering design change implementation in the plant and communicate design changes to the plant.
• Create the master CTQ list and run scheduled audits to improve quality and awareness in manufacturing.
• Lead root cause analysis for design issues and consult the central team on interim and permanent corrective actions.
• Support implementation of interim and permanent corrective actions in production along with the Quality team.
• Track stage‑wise inspection of proto and pilot builds for part to print, weight measurements and build quality, and give inputs to the central team.
• Track EBOM and give clarity to manufacturing for MBOM creation; verify completeness.
• Handle design release of minor complexity cases (no validation or homologation involved) in consultation with, and approval by, the central team.
• Provide engineering support for part approvals and PPAP sign-off.
• Assess deviation requests and liaise with the central team for approvals.
• Participate in and support PQRM and BVQRM of bus body.
• Update the plant head on design status periodically.
• Develop installation drawings and work instructions to suit design requirements along with the process planning team.
