Persistent Systems is seeking an experienced C++ Lead Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance desktop applications for scientific instruments, hardware devices, and embedded systems. The role demands deep C++ expertise, device communication, and strong technical leadership to deliver scalable software solutions.

You will lead architecture discussions, optimize performance, and guide a team of engineers across multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5–12 years of software development experience with C++ focus.
• Hands-on C++/VC++/MFC development and device communication experience.
• Strong knowledge of OO design, SOLID, and design patterns.
• Proficiency with STL and memory management in modern C++.
• Experience with multithreading, synchronization primitives, and IPC.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced C++ Lead Developer to design, develop, and maintain highperformance desktop applications for scientific instruments, hardware devices, and embedded systems. The role requires strong expertise in modern C++ development, device communication, software architecture, multithreading, performance optimization, and technical leadership to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions.

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain desktop applications using C++ for scientific instruments and hardware devices.
• Lead technical design discussions and drive architecture decisions for complex software systems.
• Develop robust and scalable solutions using modern C++ standards and best practices.
• Implement device communication, hardware integration, and real-time data acquisition solutions.
• Optimize application performance, memory usage, and system reliability.
• Develop multithreaded and concurrent applications with effective synchronization mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and provide root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, firmware teams, and stakeholders to define technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and software quality guidelines.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership across the team.
• Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Manage source control, build processes, and release activities.
• Participate in Agile development activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 5 to 12 years of experience in software development with strong expertise in C++.
• Hands-on experience in C++/VC++/MFC application development and device communication.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns.
• Expertise in STL (Standard Template Library).
• Strong knowledge of Smart Pointers and Memory Management in modern C++.
• Experience with Templates and Generic Programming.
• Proficiency in Exception Handling and RAII principles.
• Hands-on experience with modern C++ standards including C++11, C++14, C++17, and C++20.
• Strong knowledge of Multithreading and Concurrency concepts.
• Experience with Thread Synchronization, Mutexes, Condition Variables, and Semaphores.
• Experience implementing lock-based and lock-free programming mechanisms.
• Knowledge of Asynchronous Programming and Coroutines.
• Experience with Inter-Process Communication (IPC) mechanisms such as Pipes and Message Queues.
• Strong understanding of Socket Programming and Network Communication.
• Experience designing software architectures including monolithic and microservices-based applications.
• Expertise in Performance Analysis, Optimization, Code Profiling, and Memory Leak Detection.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex applications.
• Experience with Unit Testing and Integration Testing methodologies.
• Experience with source control tools such as Git, Tortoise SVN, and Azure DevOps.
• Proficiency with Visual Studio development environments.
• Experience developing desktop applications for instruments and hardware devices.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software integration and communication.
• Knowledge of device drivers and low-level hardware interaction.
• Experience with API integration and real-time data acquisition systems.
• Exposure to firmware communication protocols.
• Experience with C# development.
• Knowledge of .NET and WPF technologies.
• Exposure to Driver Development.
• Experience in scientific or analytical instrument software development.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech/M.S. in Computer Science, MCA, or equivalent qualification.
