Job summary

Tata Electronics Private Limited is seeking a seasoned professional to lead end-to-end import, export and bonded operations in line with Indian customs and foreign trade regulations.

You will ensure correct HS classification, duties, and exemptions while coordinating with brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory authorities. Strong SAP/Oracle skills and AEO/FTAs experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or International Trade.
• 10+ years of import/export operations, customs compliance, and logistics in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end import, export, and bonded operations per Indian customs and foreign trade regulations.
• Ensure correct HS classification, customs valuation, country of origin, and application of duty benefits/exemptions/FTAs.
• Oversee compliance for electronics with DGFT, BIS QCOs, MeitY, WPC, and DOT.
• Act as primary contact during customs audits, post-clearance audits, investigations, and regulatory reviews.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for hazardous goods (IATA DGR, PESO, CPCB/SPCB).
• Coordinate licenses/permits with DGFT, Customs, Pollution Control Boards and allied departments.
• Identify and mitigate customs, trade, and logistics-related risks.
• Review/import/export documentation and coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, and suppliers.
• Experience with AEO program compliance, SCOMET regulations, FTAs, and rules of origin; creating presentations.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading and overseeing end-to-end import, export, and logistics operations for a semiconductor manufacturing organization. The position focuses on Indian customs and foreign trade compliance, regulatory governance, and operational risk management. The incumbent ensures adherence to the Indian Customs Act, DGFT Foreign Trade Policy, allied regulations, and relevant international trade laws, while enabling efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of capital, equipment, electronics and semiconductor tools along with documentation for duty exemption schemes and pursue the same in customs department . The specialist coordinates activities between suppliers, customers, logistics partners (like freight forwarders and Customs House Agents - CHAs), licensing authorities, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all import, export, and bonded operations in line with Indian customs and foreign trade regulations.
• Ensure correct HS classification, customs valuation, country of origin determination, and application of duty benefits, exemptions, and FTAs.
• Oversee compliance for electronics and IT goods with DGFT, BIS QCO requirements, and applicableMeitY, WPC, and DOT.
• Act as the primary point of contact during customs audits, post-clearance audits, investigations, and regulatory reviews.
• Ensure compliance with regulations governing hazardous goods including IATA DGR, PESO, and CPCB/SPCB requirements.
• Coordinate licenses, permits, and approvals with DGFT, Customs, Pollution Control Boards and allied departments.
• Identify and mitigate customs, trade, and logistics-related risks.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Considerable understanding of the Customs Act 1962 (esp. warehousing provisions), Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), SEZ Act 2005 & Rules 2006, Manufacture and Other Operations in Warehouse Regulations (MOOWR), Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, relevant GST provisions impacting trade, and related circulars/notifications. BIS and Quality Control Orders (QCOs).
• Procedural Expertise: Review and approve import/export documentation, shipping instructions, and customs declarations. Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, and suppliers for compliant movement of FAB materials.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using relevant government portals (e.g., ICEGATE, SEZ Online) and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) related to logistics and inventory management. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
• Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex regulations, analyse trade data, identify compliance risks, and calculate duties/taxes accurately.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective liaison with government authorities, CHAs, internal teams, and management.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation, record-keeping, and compliance checks.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify and resolve compliance issues.
• Experience with Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program compliance. Knowledge of SCOMET regulations, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and Rules of Origin, Making power point presentations.

Desired Experience Level

• 10+ years of experience in import/export operations, customs compliance, and logistics within manufacturing environments, preferably electronics or semiconductor industries.
• Strong knowledge of Indian customs law, DGFT FTP, hazardous goods regulations, Incoterms, and international logistics practices, DGFT.
