Job summary

PeopleStrong in Mumbai is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the architectural design function for its Data Center business, driving conceptualization, planning, coordination, and execution of scalable, sustainable data center facilities aligned with global standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with 20+ years of architectural design and project coordination experience.
• Extensive Data Center architecture design experience is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical infrastructure and global data center standards.
• Experience in managing large multidisciplinary consultant teams and complex projects.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Define architectural vision and design brief for Data Center developments.
• Lead planning and design for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge data centers.

Role Objective

Lead the architectural design function for the Data Center business in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, driving the conceptualization, planning, coordination, and execution of world-class, scalable, and sustainable data center facilities aligned with global standards and client requirements.

The role requires strong expertise in mission-critical infrastructure design, including integration with MEP, structural, security, and fire & life safety systems, while managing multidisciplinary consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and technically compliant solutions across all project phases

Key Responsibilities

Quality of Design

• Work closely with senior leadership to define the architectural vision, product concept, and design brief for Data Center developments
• Lead architectural planning and design development for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge data center facilities
• Ensure designs align with global data center standards, operational efficiency, sustainability goals, and scalability requirements
• Drive innovation and value engineering in planning, façade design, circulation, space optimization, utility integration, and support infrastructure
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, Uptime/TIA standards, green building practices, and global best practices in mission-critical facilities
• Ensure timely design decisions and adherence to project specifications at every design stage
• Anchor close coordination among internal departments, consultants, operators, and external stakeholders involved in the project
• Collaborate extensively with MEP, structural, security, ICT, fire & life safety, and infrastructure teams to ensure integrated design delivery
• Review drawings and facilitate smooth information flow between all design and execution stakeholders
• Maintain strong communication channels to ensure alignment with project objectives, timelines, and quality expectations

Deliverables to Project Management

• Lead design reviews and evaluate detailed architectural documentation for compliance with company and industry standards
• Ensure timely issuance of design deliverables in line with project schedules and business requirements
• Evaluate consultant performance and drive adherence to quality benchmarks, timelines, and technical standards
• Support project management teams with design clarifications, approvals, and technical resolutions

Site Execution

• Monitor implementation of architectural intent during construction and ensure adherence to approved designs and specifications
• Conduct periodic site visits, audits, and design compliance reviews across project locations
• Work closely with execution teams to resolve on-site design challenges and drive timely closure of issues
• Ensure coordination between design and construction teams for smooth project delivery

Process Implementation & Team Leadership

• Build and foster a high-performance architectural design team focused on innovation, quality, and delivery excellence
• Drive process standardization, design governance, documentation protocols, and best practices across projects
• Mentor and guide team members on technical excellence, coordination, and project delivery processes
• Establish robust review mechanisms and quality control processes for architectural deliverables

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) from a reputed institution with about 20+ years of experience in architectural design and project coordination.
• Extensive experience in Data Center architecture design is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of mission-critical infrastructure, global data center standards, and integrated building systems
• Experience in managing large multidisciplinary consultant teams and complex projects
