Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a Lab Support Engineer with 3-7 years of experience to join the hardware validation team. You will support board-level debugging, NPI bring-up, and test activities across Intel-based platforms.

You will analyse schematics, perform component-level rework, and use lab instruments to validate designs. The role involves collaborating with design teams, maintaining lab setups, and contributing to yield improvement and quality release readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience with hardware debugging and board-level analysis.
• Ability to analyse schematics and layout files to troubleshoot failures.
• Experience with rework of BGA, QFN, and fine-pitch packages.
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux; lab automation experience is a plus.
• Strong collaboration with design engineers to resolve hardware and firmware issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform board-level debugging and root cause analysis on Intel-based platforms.
• Support hardware bring-up and validation for new product introductions (NPI).
• Analyse schematics, layout files, and documentation to troubleshoot failures.
• Execute component-level rework including BGA, QFN, and fine-pitch packages.
• Debug power sequencing, clock generation, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, USB, SATA, Ethernet).
• Utilize lab tools including Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, DMM, Power Analyzer, and JTAG debuggers.
• Investigate functional, electrical, and thermal issues during validation and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with design engineers to resolve hardware and firmware-related failures.
• Develop debug procedures, failure reports, and corrective action recommendations.
• Support yield improvement via failure trend analysis.
• Verify reworked boards meet quality and functional requirements before release.
• Lab setup from scratch, assembly/dismantle of systems.
• Ramp up/down of systems, SW update, HW configuration & maintenance.
• Maintenance: debugging, swapping/replacing hardware components, socket cleaning, thermal head checks, chiller maintenance.
• Install operating systems and drivers following BKCs via automation framework: Windows/Linux.
• Lab IT support like host builds, patching, SED port identification, KVM/PDU IP config.
• Basic system validation triage via KVMs.
• Coordinate calibrations with vendors for test equipment.
• Perform basic lab/device execution following defined procedures.
• Analyze log failures and perform initial triage.
• Recover dead systems/platforms with guidance from L3/L4 technician.
