Job summary

Resustainability is seeking a senior laboratory chemist to manage testing of plastic feedstock, pyrolysis oil, char and by-products. You will analyze feedstock for polymer composition, moisture, ash, chlorine, sulfur, metals and contaminants, and conduct pyrolysis oil testing including density, viscosity, distillation and calorific value.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience in polymer/plastic pyrolysis or related labs and involves developing SOPs, QA/QC procedures and supporting audits.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Manage laboratory testing for plastic feedstock, pyrolysis oil, char and by-products.
• Analyze feedstock for polymer composition, moisture, ash, chlorine, sulfur, metals and contaminants.
• Conduct pyrolysis oil testing for density, viscosity, flash point, calorific value, distillation, sulfur, chlorine, nitrogen, bromine number and hydrocarbon composition.
• Perform char analysis for carbon, ash, fixed carbon and heavy metals.
• Operate and manage analytical instruments including GC/GC-MS, XRF, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, FTIR, CHNS/O Analyzer, Karl Fischer, Bomb Calorimeter, Viscometer, Flash Point Tester and Distillation Analyzer.
• Develop SOPs, testing methods, calibration and QA/QC procedures as per ASTM/ISO standards.
• Investigate OOS results, quality deviations and root causes and support process improvement.
• Release product batches and prepare Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
• Support refinery qualification, customer audits and quality assessments.

Education: M.Sc./M.Tech./B.Tech./B.E. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer, Petroleum or related field.

Experience: 7-10 Years

Preferred Background: Plastic Pyrolysis, Chemical Recycling, Plastic Recycling, Refinery, Petrochemical, Petroleum/Fuel Testing, Polymer or Analytical Laboratory.
