Job summary

SGS India invites applications for a Polymer Testing Specialist to plan, execute, and document testing of polymer materials and finished plastic parts in a controlled laboratory environment.

You will ensure compliance with standards and SOPs, coordinate with the Section In-charge, and maintain meticulous test records and traceability across samples. Strong analytical and reporting skills are essential for internal and external audits.

Qualifications

  • Plan, understand, and execute assigned testing activities within stipulated timelines while ensuring accuracy, precision, and compliance with applicable standards, test methods, and SOPs in coordination with the Section In-charge.
  • Prepare internal test reports and technical documentation as per relevant standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct polymer and plastic material testing in accordance with test specifications and laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain, update, and ensure the accuracy of laboratory logbooks and testing records.
  • Ensure proper identification, storage, and traceability of both tested and untested samples for easy retrieval and audit compliance.
  • Act as the point of contact for technical queries and support interactions during internal and external audits in the absence of the Section In-charge.
  • Maintain high standards of workplace organization and cleanliness by ensuring compliance with 5S practices within the assigned work area.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality management systems and accreditation requirements while performing testing activities.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of assigned jobs and delivery of accurate test results.

ting activities and reporting. Compliance with laboratory standards, SOPs, and accreditation requirements. Effective maintenance of testing records, sample traceability, and 5S practices. High-quality technical support during internal and external audits.

8 Technical / Behavioural / Managerial / Critical Skills Desired: Strong hands-on experience in testing of polymer raw materials and finished plastic products, including mechanical, thermal, and weathering performance evaluations.

Practical experience in operating and interpreting results from laboratory equipment such as UTM, HDT, Impact Tester, MFI, FTIR, DSC, Weatherability Chambers, and Fogging Equipment.

Sound knowledge of polymer characterization techniques, test methods, and relevant national/international standards.

Awareness and understanding of laboratory quality systems and accreditation requirements (NABL/ISO 17025 or equivalent).

Ability to prepare accurate technical reports, maintain test records, and ensure compliance with laboratory procedures.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal stakeholders, customers, and auditors.

Ability to work independently while managing multiple testing assignments within defined timelines. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement practices in a laboratory environment.
