Job Purpose

Responsible for performing tests on raw materials and intermediate process stream samples according to schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as testing crude oil, finished products such as LPG, Naphtha, HSD, MS, ATF, LDO, Fuel Oil, Petcoke, Bitumen, and various intermediate samples from PIT, dispatch, jetty, operation, and marketing. Calibration of instruments and primary troubleshooting of instruments. Maintain documentation as per RIMS and NABL requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance
  • Follow safety practices and work instructions as per requirements.
  • Perform testing of raw materials, intermediate process stream and finished products samples in accordance to with relevant SOPs/standard test methods like ASTM, UOP, IP, BIS, APHA, etc
  • Calibration of instruments, preparation of solutions and standardization. Testing of quality check / reference samples.
  • Primary troubleshooting of analytical instruments under the guidance of his supervisor.
  • Analysis of special/unscheduled samples as per TS/Operation/EPS requirements.
  • Highlighting abnormalities with respect to products/intermediates samples for deviations from specifications.
  • Conduct changeover of gas cylinders and monitor pressure and ensure no leakage in the system.
  • System Management
  • Independently handling laboratory instruments and training to subordinates
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of lab instruments.
  • Maintain documentation as per RIMS and NABL requirements
  • Planning & Budgeting
  • Planning of analysis sequence as per priority
  • Pre-preparedness for operation of critical instruments.
  • Proper usage of analytical resources, minimum wear and tear of spares/consumables and glassware breakages.
  • Reporting of replacement of spares / consumables to immediate supervisor
  • Checking/monitoring of inventory of spares / consumables, chemicals, and CRMs in his area.
  • Compliance & System Management
  • Follow systems and procedures as per RIMS and NABL.
  • Support to achieve the dept objectives and targets.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement of systems
  • Timely & accurate analysis and reporting of results in LIMS.
  • Timely highlighting of abnormality/product failure.
  • OHSMS, Energy & Environmental Management
  • Ensure working with all PPE's as per HSEF policy & procedures at work location & accident-free working.
  • Maintain and enhance safety Standards to ensure Zero LTI.
  • Ensure housekeeping of Laboratory Area including gas cylinder house and sample retention area.
  • Report near miss, highlight unsafe act/conditions.
  • Awareness about Environmental Management and Energy Management System.
