Job summary

Openhouse is building a home-based Kannada learning program in Bengaluru, delivering one-on-one tutoring to children aged 5-12 in their homes. You will assess each child’s Kannada level and tailor sessions with stories, songs, conversation, reading and writing to keep engagement high.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 Kannada teaching sessions in childrens' homes through the At Home programme for children aged 5-12.
• Assess each child's current Kannada language level and adapt teaching based on their individual needs, including children from homes where Kannada is not the first language.
• Make Kannada engaging and accessible through stories, songs, conversation, reading, and writing rather than relying primarily on alphabet drills.
• Share observations and feedback from teaching sessions with the curriculum team to help develop and refine the in-house Kannada curriculum.
• Provide practical feedback on what works with each child, appropriate learning sequences, and areas where children face difficulties.
• Continuously improve teaching approaches by applying learnings and observations from classroom sessions.
