Job summary

Flex is a diversified manufacturing partner of choice, seeking a Junior Engineer - Quality in Chennai. You will maintain quality programs, support supplier audits and lead the supplier approval process, ensuring products meet safety, quality and process standards.

The role includes root cause analysis, on-site supplier visits, and collaboration with teams on process improvements. Night shift knowledge is listed in the ad.

Qualifications

• B.E/B.Tech in E&TC, EEE or Mechanical with 0–1 year experience in quality.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP & FMEA processes and lean manufacturing.
• Understanding of TS16949, ISO45001/OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 is preferred.
• Experience with measurement techniques and quality systems basics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality engineering programs, standards and improvements.
• Carry out supplier validation audits with APQP support.
• Lead supplier approval by assessing capabilities and HSE risks.
• Support new product launches to ensure supplier quality meets standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier quality issues
• Perform on-site supplier visits for verification of actions
• Review supplier processes and drive process improvement
• Promote Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, MSA, PFMEA techniques
• Support Quality Manager with monitoring supplier product quality
• Coordinate supplier cost recovery for quality issues
• Assist in Internal/External Audit readiness
• Undertake special projects as required

Junior Engineer - Quality, Chennai

In this role, you will be maintaining quality engineering programs, standards and improvements within the organization.

What a typical day looks like:

• Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP)
• Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
• Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
• Follow up with suppliers for root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues
• Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues
• Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities
• Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
• Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
• Support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance.
• Manage and coordinate supplier Material/Non Material cost recovery for Supplier Quality issues
• Support in Internal /External Audit readiness
• Undertake special projects as required.
