Job summary

GEA Group in India is seeking an automation engineer to design, program, and support PLC and HMI systems for industrial machinery. You will work with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems and ensure reliable operation on sites.

The role requires experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk View, and SCADA protocols, plus strong troubleshooting and documentation skills. Occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification (Certified Technician/master’s in engineering).
• Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley).
• Proficiency in Siemens HMI software and understanding of FactoryTalk View.
• Understanding of SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., ProfiNet, Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for diagnosing issues with PLC, HMI, and industrial automation equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs for controlling machinery and industrial processes.
• Write and modify SCL, structured text, FBD, SFC and other PLC programming languages.
• Integrate PLCs with field equipment to ensure smooth operation.
• Design and develop HMI screens to monitor and control automated systems.
• Configure HMI communication with PLCs and other control devices.
• Maintain and troubleshoot HMI systems to ensure accurate data display and control.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to integrate PLC and HMI systems.
• Perform system commissioning and ensure proper communication between PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems, including PLC, HMI, and other connected devices.
• Test PLC and HMI systems to ensure they meet design specifications.

Your Profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation, writing reports, and collaborating with team members.
• Works in office; may require minimal travel to client sites for software commissioning or troubleshooting.
