Job summary

Design Insignia in India is seeking an experienced Architectural Drafter to prepare complete drawing dockets for retail stores, translating design concepts into execution drawings with detailed layouts, sections and elevations. You will coordinate MEP drawings and ensure accuracy, completeness and adherence to drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate revisions and client/site comments; issue updated sets.

Role & Responsibilities

• Prepare complete architectural and working drawing dockets for retail stores based on design concepts, site measurements and project requirements.
• Develop detailed layout plans, furniture layouts, sections, elevations and construction details for retail interiors.
• Prepare coordinated electrical, lighting, HVAC and other MEP drawings required for execution at site.
• Prepare detailed BOQs, quantity take-offs and material specifications based on approved drawings.
• Translate design concepts into accurate and practical execution/working drawings suitable for contractors and site teams.
• Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and other MEP requirements.
• Incorporate design revisions and client/site comments and issue updated drawing sets.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, properly dimensioned, coordinated and follow the company's drawing standards.
• Review site conditions and existing measurements and incorporate them accurately into drawings.
• Maintain proper drawing numbering, revisions, documentation and drawing registers.
• Ensure timely completion and issuance of drawing dockets as per project schedules.
• Ability to handle multiple retail projects simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong hands-on experience in AutoCAD is essential.
• Candidate should be able to independently prepare a complete retail store drawing docket from basic design information/site measurements to final execution drawings.
• Good understanding of retail planning, space planning, construction detailing and interior execution.
• Must be comfortable preparing:

• Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Good knowledge of dimensions, levels, site conditions and construction methods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify drawing coordination and execution issues before drawings are issued.
• Should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of drawing deliverables.
• Good communication and coordination skills with architects, designers, contractors, vendors and site teams.
• Candidates with experience in retail roll-outs / multi-location retail projects will be preferred.
• Knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, Revit or other drafting/design software will be an added advantage.
