Job summary

TCPL Packaging Ltd. is seeking a CAD New Structural Designer to join the New Product Development / Structural Design team in Mumbai.

You will design, develop, and optimize packaging structures, create samples, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver functional solutions. You will develop innovative formats, assess stability and compatibility, and translate customer briefs into viable structural concepts using ArtiosCAD.

Qualifications

• Experience with ArtiosCAD for 2D/3D packaging design.
• Understanding of packaging development and structural design.
• Experience in sample making and prototype development.
• Knowledge of packaging manufacturing processes and commercial feasibility.

Position: CAD New Structural Designer

Department: New Product Development (NPD) / Structural Design

Location: TCPL Packaging Ltd.

Job Purpose

To design, develop, and optimize innovative packaging structures and solutions that meet customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and commercial objectives. The role involves structural design development, sample creation, packaging analysis, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Requirement Analysis

• Study and understand customer requirements received through enquiry specifications, technical briefs, emails, and verbal communications.
• Interpret packaging requirements and convert them into viable structural design solutions.

Packaging Design & Development

• Develop innovative packaging formats and structures based on product requirements and customer expectations.
• Conduct packaging stability and compatibility assessments to ensure product protection, storage efficiency, and functionality.
• Create value-added and cost-effective packaging solutions that satisfy technical,marketing, and commercial requirements.
• Design and develop 2D and 3D structural packaging concepts using ArtiosCAD software.

Manufacturing & Process Support

• Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are suitable for mass manufacturing processes.
• Possess working knowledge of printing, punching, auto-pasting, and other carton converting operations.
• Support manufacturing trials and monitor design performance during production.

Sampling & Prototype Development

• Create structural mock-ups, prototypes, and dummy samples for evaluation and customer approval.
• Operate Kongsberg XL-22 and XE-10 cutting tables for sample preparation and development activities.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain records of design concepts, development images, trial observations, and project outcomes.
• Support internal reviews and customer presentations with detailed design-related information.

Required Skills & Knowledge

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in ArtiosCAD for 2D and 3D packaging design.
• Knowledge of packaging development processes and structural design principles.
• Experience in sample making and prototype development.
• Understanding of packaging manufacturing processes and commercial feasibility.
