Electrician Job Description (JD)
Department: Maintenance / Operations / Projects
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Electrical Engineer/Plant Head
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures, and control systems.
- Diagnose electrical faults and perform corrective maintenance.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Install and troubleshoot motors, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and control panels.
- Test electrical systems using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform timely repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Coordinate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to support operations.
- Assist in equipment upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe work practices.
Qualifications
- Diploma/ITI/Technical certification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Valid electrician license/certification (where required).
- 1-3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, installation, or industrial operations.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, motors, PLCs, control circuits, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
