Job summary

Raj Process Equipments And System is seeking a motivated Jr. Engineer – R&D to support pilot-plant operations and chemical process development.

You will assist in process trials, monitor parameters, collect data, and prepare technical reports for ongoing projects involving reactions, extraction, heat transfer, distillation, and fermentation. The role focuses on hands-on operation of pilot-scale equipment, data analysis, and documentation, with opportunities to contribute to process optimization

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering required.
• 0–2 years of experience in R&D or related role.
• Knowledge of pilot plant operations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze heats & mass balances for processes and trials.
• Operate pilot plants and small-scale synthesis systems safely.
• Assist in planning R&D experiments, trials, and scale-up activities.
• Monitor critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, level).
• Demonstrate knowledge of pilot-plant instrumentation and equipment.
• Develop understanding of chemical processes (reactions, extraction, distillation, fermentation).
• Operate and monitor processes through SCADA/PLC control systems.
• Record and maintain accurate process/experimental data; prepare technical reports.
• Follow SOPs and safety guidelines; coordinate with R&D, production, and maintenance teams.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and technically sound Jr. Engineer – R&D to support our Research & Development activities, particularly in pilot plant operations, chemical process development, process monitoring, and small-scale chemical synthesis.

The candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring pilot-scale process equipment, assisting in process trials, maintaining process parameters, collecting and analyzing operational data, and preparing technical reports. The role will provide an opportunity to work with chemical processes involving reaction, extraction, heat transfer, separation, distillation, and fermentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and analyze heat and mass balances for chemical processes and process trials.
2. Operate and monitor pilot plants and small-scale chemical synthesis systems safely and efficiently.
3. Assist in planning and execution of R&D experiments, process trials, and scale-up activities.
4. Monitor and control critical process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, and other operating conditions.
5. Demonstrate working knowledge of pilot-plant instrumentation and equipment, including:
   • Control valves and manual valves
   • Temperature sensors
   • Pressure sensors/transmitters
   • Flow and level measurement devices
6. Develop a practical understanding of chemical processes such as:
   • Chemical reactions
   • Extraction
   • Heat exchangers and heat transfer
   • Separation processes
   • Distillation
   • Fermentation
7. Operate and monitor processes through SCADA and PLC-based control systems.
8. Record, monitor, and maintain accurate process and experimental data.
9. Prepare daily reports, trial reports, process data sheets, and technical documentation.
10. Identify process deviations and support troubleshooting of pilot plant and process-related issues.
11. Follow established SOPs, safety procedures, process guidelines, and laboratory/pilot plant practices.
12. Coordinate with R&D, production, maintenance, and other relevant teams during pilot trials.
13. Assist in equipment setup, trial preparation, process optimization, and scale-up activities.
14. Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure safe operation of high-temperature and high-pressure systems.
15. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to process efficiency, safety, yield, and operating parameters.

Required Technical Skills

• Basic to good understanding of Heat & Mass Balance
• Knowledge of chemical process operations
• Hands-on understanding of pilot plant operations
• Knowledge of chemical reaction and synthesis processes
• Understanding of heat exchangers and heat transfer
• Basic knowledge of extraction, separation, distillation, and fermentation
• Familiarity with valves, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, and process instrumentation
• Basic knowledge of SCADA and PLC operation
• Ability to monitor and interpret process parameters
• Good data recording, analysis, and technical report preparation skills
• Understanding of safe operation of high-temperature and high-pressure systems
