Job summary

Seagull International in Pune (Chakan) seeks a Sr. Manager R&D to lead product development and technical solutions. The role focuses on timely development, cost management, and ensuring customer approvals for new and existing products.

With 12–15 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or coatings, you will drive NPD, DoE, DoE-based lab work, and cross-functional collaboration with production and QA teams.

Qualifications

• Strong exposure to industrial and/or automotive coating systems.
• Hands-on experience with NPD, APQP, PPAP, and customer approvals.
• Good analytical, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Design product formulation as per customer specifications and achieve business conversion.
• Operate new developments with value engineering and smart sourcing to target raw material cost as per management guidelines.
• Maintain a qualified RM database with alternates for all key materials.
• Ensure new technologies / raw materials being inducted in the manufacturing process / products.
• Ensure on time sample submission to customer and arrange to get approval with FTR.
• Ensure to 100% review Pre Design parameters check list to implement DoE for first submission.
• Study customer requirements and check feasibility.
• Update NPD review meetings with latest updates and attend management review meetings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

A. Role Identifier

Designation : SR. MANGER / MANGER R&D
Reporting To : GM R&D
Role : Timely devleopment of products and impart technical solutions.
Experience : 12-15 yrs of Exp.
Location : Chakan, Pune

B. Responsibilities

• Design product formulation as per customer specifications and achieve business conversion.
• Operate new developments with value engineering and smart sourcing to target raw material cost as per management guidelines.
• Maintain a qualified RM database with alternates for all key materials.
• Ensure new technologies / raw materials being inducted in the manufacturing process / products.
• Ensure on time sample submission to customer and arrange to get approval with FTR.
• Ensure to 100% review Pre Design parameters check list theoretically to Implement robust design of experiments (DoE) to ensure lab samples match customer requirements on first submission.
• Study customer requirements and check feasibility.
• Update NPD review meeting with latest updates & attend Management review meetings and take corrective actions.
• Achieve cost reduction & performance improvement targets assigned from existing products.
• Support vendor development team by approving new / alternate raw material.
• Approve APQP & PPAP documents.
• Design new processes as per NPD requirements.
• Organize testing including life cycle test.
• Ensure calibration of monitoring & measuring equipment available in R&D lab or used during R&D activities.
• Process Planning including initial sample control. Prepare SOP for production and issue to production.
• Suggest VA/VE to customer for cost reduction & improvement in product quality.
• Timely review, distribution & implementation of all customer standards /specifications & changes.
• Ensure implementation of IMS in the organization.
• Initiate improvement projects.
• Standardize first 3 R&D lot with involvement of production, Quality and Tss.
• Support process development activities and attend problems related to process in production & develop/revise existing process and review the PPAP documents.
• Prepare and issue ECN as per requirement generated.
• Development of new products with technical assistance from collaborators or experts.
• Conduct safety audit & round in respective area
• Ensure actions on guidance issue by top management.
• Find gaps, Perform root cause analysis & take corrective actions.
• Conduct training and ensure skill enhancement of technical team.
• Follow all safety instructions & usage of applicable PPE.
• Maintain 5S in respective area.
• To act as CFT.
