Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Bengaluru is seeking an IT Operations/Support Engineer to manage production incidents, perform RCA, and provide hands-on Java/J2EE and AWS-based support in a global environment.

The role involves database querying, Unix/Linux scripting, 24/7 on-call readiness, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure service availability and adherence to ITSM practices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java/J2EE technologies, including Spring Boot, microservices, and web services (REST/SOAP).
• Strong command-line skills and experience with shell scripting.
• Expertise in SQL/PL-SQL and experience with databases like Oracle, MS SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Solid experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services such as EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and Lambda.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, CloudWatch).
• Familiarity with ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change Management) and Agile/DevOps practices.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work in global, cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Incident and Problem Management: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents in a timely manner, participating in on-call rotations and P1-P2 incident calls.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Perform in-depth analysis to identify the underlying cause of recurring issues and implement permanent fixes.
• Application Support & Debugging: Provide hands-on support for applications built with Java/J2EE and Spring Boot, including debugging code, analyzing application logs, and implementing minor code fixes.
• Database Management & SQL: Write, debug, and optimize SQL/PL-SQL queries and stored procedures to diagnose and resolve database-related issues.
• Unix/Linux Operations: Execute Unix/Linux commands and write shell scripts for system maintenance, automation of support tasks, and file transfers.
• AWS Cloud Monitoring & Support: Utilize AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, Lambda) to monitor application health, manage cloud resources, and ensure high availability in the cloud environment.
• Release and Change Management: Support application deployments and releases, perform business validations in production, and ensure adherence to ITSM best practices.
• Documentation and Communication: Document operational procedures, known errors, and resolutions, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
