Capco invites an experienced Java Backend Lead to join our team in Vadodara, operating in a hybrid model. You will steer the design of scalable backend services and mentor a growing engineering group.

You will own critical REST APIs, drive microservices architecture, and collaborate with product, architecture, and QA to deliver reliable software for complex banking and financial projects.

Position: Java Backend Lead

Location: Vadodara

Experience: 10+ Years Work Mode: Hybrid (Work from Client Office)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Provide technical leadership and drive solution design, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices.
• Design and build robust Microservices and REST APIs for enterprise-grade applications.
• Lead features and technical initiatives from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support.
• Guide and mentor developers through technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Ensure backend solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, maintainable, and performance focused.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, Mobile, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, production issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Drive coding standards, engineering quality, and continuous improvement across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Java backend development, with experience leading technical teams or complex engineering initiatives.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices Architecture.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and distributed backend services.
• Proven ability to drive technical design and architecture decisions for enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, clean coding, and secure coding practices.
• Experience building scalable, reliable, and enterprise-grade applications.
• Ability to mentor engineers and drive high engineering standards across the team.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Preferred / Good-to-Have

• Experience in the Payments / FinTech domain, including payment processing and integrations.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or other messaging/event-driven technologies.
• Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, JPA/Hibernate, and database performance optimization.
• Experience with Spring Security and application security practices.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and code quality tools.
• Experience building backend services and APIs supporting Android/iOS mobile applications .
