Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer in Pune with 5–8 years of hands-on experience to design, develop, and deploy scalable backend solutions. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, integrating Kafka for real-time event-driven systems and deploying on Azure.

You’ll build RESTful APIs, containerize with Docker and Kubernetes, and participate in CI/CD pipelines while collaborating in an Agile team.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of backend Java development experience.
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices.
• Kafka experience for event-driven architectures and streaming.

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with 5-8 years of hands‑on experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable enterprise-grade backend applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, and Apache Kafka for real-time event-driven solutions. This role involves building high-performance distributed systems, integrating cloud-native technologies, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and resilient applications

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and implement Microservices-based architectures aligned with enterprise design standards.
• Develop and integrate Apache Kafka-based event streaming and message-driven solutions.
• Design and expose RESTful APIs for application and service integrations.
• Implement real-time data processing workflows using Kafka topics, consumer groups, partitions, and schema registries.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and development teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems.
• Design and manage database schemas, queries, and performance tuning for relational databases.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications on Azure cloud environments.
• Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of applications.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure software quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar GenAI tools for code generation, debugging, documentation, and productivity improvements.
• Follow Agile development practices and actively participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Expertise You’ll Bring:

• 5-8 years of experience in backend application development using Java technologies.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, schema registry, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and distributed system design principles.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant applications.
• Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployments.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Expertise in relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database design, optimization, indexing, and query performance tuning.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, code quality standards, and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience working with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with AI-powered developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent solutions.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
