Persistent is seeking a Java AIML Developer to design and build Java/Spring microservices for agent orchestration, tool invocation, and cloud-native deployments. You will work with AI/LLM-powered solutions, distributed systems, and modern CI/CD practices.

Key responsibilities include API design, performance tuning, and integrating with AWS/GCP/Azure, databases, and external tools. Hybrid work is supported, with a focus on scalable, resilient systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About Position:

We are seeking a skilled Java AI/ML Developer with strong expertise in Java, AI/ML technologies, and Cloud platforms to build scalable, intelligent, and cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will work on developing AI-powered solutions, agent-based systems, and microservices architectures while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative business solutions.

What You'll Do:

• Design and build Java/Spring microservices that support agent orchestration: tool invocation, session/state management, prompt routing, retrieval, and async workflows.
• Define service boundaries, APIs, and data contracts between agent runtime, business domains, and external tools (MCP, REST, messaging).
• Lead implementation of production-grade features: idempotency, retries, circuit breaking, rate limits, and graceful degradation when models or tools fail.
• Drive test strategy (unit, contract, integration, load) and CI/CD quality gates for agent pipelines.
• Troubleshooting and debugging to optimize performance
• Experience with databases directly, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL, and how they are addressed by the application
• Comfortable working with and improving upon legacy systems and code as you are building new features and applications

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Strong Java (17+ preferred) with deep knowledge of OOP, concurrency, and JVM performance.
• Production experience with Spring Boot and service-oriented architecture.
• Solid API design (REST/OpenAPI); experience with event-driven or message-based systems.
• Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL, caching, and data modeling for high-throughput services.
• Experience building cloud-native services (AWS/GCP/Azure): containers, K8s basics, secrets, config, deployments.
• Strong testing discipline and operational ownership (on-call, incidents, postmortems).
• AI / agentic (demonstrable in production or substantial POCs)
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications, not just calling APIs from scripts.
• Understanding of agent patterns: ReAct-style loops, tool calling, planners, sub-agents, and human approval steps.
• Experience with orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain4j, Spring AI, custom orchestrators, or equivalent).
• Practical knowledge of prompt engineering, structured output, and failure modes (hallucination, tool misuse, infinite loops).
• Familiarity with evaluation: golden datasets, regression tests for prompts/tools, offline vs online metrics.
• Awareness of security & compliance: PII handling, prompt injection, least-privilege tool access, audit logging.
