Persistent Systems in Pune is seeking an experienced IT Software Asset Management (SAM) Engineer to manage software assets, licensing, and lifecycle optimization. You will lead entitlements, license records, and reconciliations to ensure compliance and cost efficiency.

The role requires hands-on ServiceNow SAM experience, renewal management, and collaboration with procurement, IT operations, and security to drive governance and optimization across the organization.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create and manage software models, entitlements, and license records in ServiceNow SAM.
• Perform license reconciliation to identify gaps and optimization opportunities.
• Track renewals, maintenance contracts, and true-up activities for major publishers.
• Manage software request intake, approval workflows, and license allocation.
• Monitor installations and usage data to ensure entitlement alignment.
• Validate inventory data using discovery tools and endpoint management.
• Support publisher reporting for Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, etc.
• Assist during audits, vendor reviews, and compliance assessments.
• Analyze usage trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities.

We are seeking an experienced IT Software Asset Management (SAM) Engineer to manage software assets, license compliance, software lifecycles, and optimization initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with ServiceNow SAM, software licensing, entitlement management, and compliance reporting. This role will be responsible for ensuring software compliance, optimizing license utilization, managing renewals, and supporting vendor audits while driving effective software asset governance practices.

What You'll Do:

• Create, maintain, and manage software models, entitlements, license records, and software asset inventories within ServiceNow SAM.
• Perform regular license reconciliation activities to identify compliance gaps, over‑utilization, under‑utilization, and software optimization opportunities.
• Track software renewals, subscription agreements, maintenance contracts, and true‑up activities for major software publishers.
• Manage software request intake, approval workflows, license allocation, and de‑allocation processes based on entitlement availability.
• Monitor software installations and usage data to ensure alignment with purchased entitlements and organizational policies.
• Validate software inventory and consumption data using discovery tools, endpoint management platforms, and asset repositories.
• Support software publisher reporting activities for vendors such as Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, and other strategic software providers.
• Assist during software audits, vendor reviews, compliance assessments, and true‑up exercises.
• Analyze software usage trends and recommend license optimization and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with procurement, IT operations, security, and business teams to manage software asset lifecycles effectively.
• Maintain accurate software asset records and ensure data integrity within asset management platforms.
• Develop and maintain SAM process documentation, standard operating procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, data quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Generate reports, dashboards, and compliance metrics for internal stakeholders and leadership teams.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Hands‑on experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) including software license tracking, entitlement management, renewals, and compliance monitoring.
• Strong working knowledge of the ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) module.
• Experience creating and managing software models, entitlements, license records, and software catalogs within ServiceNow.
• Solid understanding of software licensing concepts, including perpetual licenses, subscription licenses, SaaS licensing, and consumption‑based licensing models.
• Strong knowledge of software reconciliation processes and compliance management practices.
• Experience with software request fulfillment, allocation, redeployment, and reclamation activities.
• Familiarity with major software publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, Oracle, and other enterprise vendors.
• Understanding of software subscription management, contract renewals, maintenance agreements, and true‑up processes.
• Experience interpreting software license agreements and identifying compliance risks.
• Knowledge of software discovery, inventory management, and endpoint management tools.
• Ability to analyze software usage and consumption data to identify optimization opportunities.
• Experience supporting software audits and vendor compliance reviews.
• Strong reporting, documentation, and data management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams including procurement, finance, IT operations, and security.
