Job description

Metayb is a fast-growing AI-led technology services and transformation company empowering organizations to thrive in the digital-first era. We work across the CPG and retail value chain, helping organizations transform their businesses through technology, automation, data, and AI.

Our expertise spans Digital Transformation, Data Science, SAP Implementation, Workflow Automation, Finance, and Supply Chain Services. We bring deep practitioner experience across source-to-pay, demand planning and management, distribution, and the marketing engines that support the broader value chain.

Headquartered in Chennai, with the Middle East and Africa as our core client markets and a growing presence in Southeast Asia, Metayb is building towards a truly global platform. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are expanding beyond organic growth through a disciplined acquisition programme focused on identifying and acquiring founder-led technology services businesses. Alongside our M&A agenda, we are expanding our senior leadership team, market presence, and strategic partnerships.

Role Overview

As an Investment Associate, you will play a central role in driving Metayb’s M&A and growth programme. This is an execution-focused role rather than a research position. You will work directly with the CEO and senior leadership across live transactions, supporting the journey from target identification and screening through valuation, due diligence, negotiations, and closing.

The role combines financial analysis, transaction execution, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and strong process discipline. You will be expected to keep multiple deal workstreams moving, ensure nothing falls through the cracks, and progressively take greater ownership of transactions and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
1. Deal Analysis & Valuation
  • Evaluate acquisition targets and assess their financial, commercial, and strategic attractiveness.
  • Analyse normalised earnings, revenue quality, growth, margins, cash flows, and other key financial metrics.
  • Assess FX-adjusted growth and identify appropriate adjustments to reported financial performance.
  • Build and maintain valuation models using relevant valuation methodologies and market comparables.
  • Reconcile seller-provided information with audited financial statements and underlying business performance.
  • Identify key assumptions, risks, inconsistencies, and value drivers within target businesses.
  • Prepare clear and concise investment screening materials and decision-ready analysis for senior leadership.
2. Transaction Execution & Process Management
  • Support transactions across screening, NDA, LOI, due diligence, negotiations, and definitive documentation.
  • Coordinate information requests, data-room activities, management meetings, and transaction-related follow-ups.
  • Maintain detailed action trackers and ensure all open items are followed through to closure.
  • Coordinate with founders, auditors, lawyers, bankers, advisors, and internal stakeholders throughout the transaction.
  • Prepare meeting notes, action items, status updates, and next-step summaries.
  • Proactively identify delays, dependencies, and risks that could impact transaction timelines.
  • Maintain the M&A pipeline and transaction trackers as the single source of truth for acquisition activity.
  • Track targets, transaction stages, open items, commitments, and follow-ups accurately and consistently.
  • Ensure senior leadership has clear visibility into the status of every active transaction.
  • Manage multiple transaction workstreams simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Continuously improve processes and tracking mechanisms to strengthen transaction execution.
4. Strategic & Commercial Analysis
  • Evaluate the strategic rationale and business case behind potential acquisitions.
  • Assess market position, customer concentration, capabilities, competitive positioning, and growth potential.
  • Evaluate the strategic and operational fit between acquisition targets and Metayb.
  • Identify potential synergies across capabilities, customers, geographies, and routes to market.
  • Assess integration considerations and the potential value of the combined business.
  • Conduct focused market and competitive analysis to support acquisition and growth decisions.
5. Sourcing & Advisor Relationships
  • Support Metayb’s engagement with investment bankers, brokers, advisors, and other M&A intermediaries.
  • Manage inbound acquisition opportunities and teasers through the initial evaluation process.
  • Coordinate outreach, follow-ups, and ongoing communication with the advisor network.
  • Maintain a structured sourcing funnel and ensure opportunities are actively progressed.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships across the M&A ecosystem.
6. Growth & Strategic Initiatives
  • Conduct market deep dives covering market size, competitive landscape, customer dynamics, and growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate new markets, routes to market, strategic partnerships, and ecosystem opportunities.
  • Support senior commercial leadership hiring by mapping talent pools, assessing profiles, and coordinating initial outreach.
  • Track strategic partnerships, consulting engagements, and other growth initiatives through agreed actions and deliverables.
  • Prepare concise analysis and recommendations to support senior leadership decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in M&A, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Corporate Development, Transaction Services, or a similar transaction-focused role.
  • Experience working on live transactions and a good understanding of the M&A lifecycle.
  • Strong financial analysis, modelling, and valuation skills.
  • Good understanding of financial statements, due diligence, and transaction processes.
  • Strong Excel and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured investment notes and management presentations.
  • Comfortable interacting with founders, senior management, bankers, advisors, auditors, and lawyers.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to drive tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Required & Preferred Skills
  • M&A / Transaction Experience: Hands-on exposure to live transactions, due diligence, deal execution, and transaction processes.
  • Financial Modelling & Valuation: Strong understanding of financial statements, financial modelling, DCF, trading comparables, and precedent transactions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to understand how a business makes money and assess revenue quality, growth, profitability, customer concentration, and key value drivers.
  • Transaction Management: Familiarity with NDAs, LOIs, information requests, data rooms, and transaction documentation.
  • Communication: Ability to prepare clear investment notes and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Stakeholder Management: Comfortable working with founders, bankers, advisors, auditors, lawyers, and management teams.
  • Ownership & Execution: Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing multiple deal workstreams and follow-ups.
  • Sector Exposure: Experience in technology services, IT services, SaaS, CPG, retail, or related sectors will be an advantage.
  • Professional Qualification: CA, CFA, MBA, or a similar qualification will be preferred.
Why This Role

This role offers direct exposure to live transactions and strategic growth initiatives, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team.

You will get the opportunity to work across deal sourcing, valuation, due diligence, negotiations, market expansion, and strategic initiatives, with increasing responsibility as you demonstrate the ability to take ownership.

For someone looking to build a career in M&A and move from supporting transactions to taking ownership of them, this is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in Metayb’s next phase of growth.
