Job summary

Siemens in Chennai is seeking a Project Manager – Data Centers with 7+ years of PM experience to lead complex multi-disciplinary electrical and mechanical projects.

You will manage HSE, scope changes, client briefs, resource planning and progress reporting, while ensuring budgets and milestones are met. 25% travel and strong English communication are required for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• 7+ years of Project Management experience in data centers or large construction projects.
• Excellent client-facing and internal presentation skills.
• PMP or IPMA certified.
• Experience in multidisciplinary electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Willingness to travel 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead HSE management for the complete project with focus on site activities.

• Coordinate with other departments for staffing needs.
• Coach, mentor and supervise project team members and contractors.
• Build and grow business relationships vital to project success.
• Prepare and implement a professional project management plan.
• Oversee FAT/SAT activities and site works when required.

We are looking for: Project Manager – Data Centers

You’ll make an impact by:

• HSE (health, safety and environment) management for the complete project, with main focus on site activities.
• Proactively lead changes in project scope to improve success and minimize risk to the customer and the company
• Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements for the contracted scope of the project(s).
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
• Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
• Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
• Maintain the relationship with the client as well as internal partners.
• Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
• Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
• Coach, mentor, encourage and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
• Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
• It is important to understand, prepare, and implement a professional and executable project management plan.
• This plan will bring the maximum momentum to the project and maximum positive energy to the team.
• One of the main things you will provide is experience in proper partner management – especially at project important landmarks.
• When the engineering phase is to finish after Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and we are to start site works including installation, test, commissioning, etc., or when Site Acceptance Test (SAT) is to be done.

• Bachelors’ BE/B.Tech degree in, preferred in electrical engineering or power systems engineering.
• Excellent client-facing and internal presentation skills.
• Proven track record of 7+ years as a Project Manager.
• Experience in multidisciplinary projects with a focus on Electrical as well as mechanical engineering.
• PMP or IPMA certified / VCA VOL or ISO 45001 (formal OHSAS) safety certified.
• Experience in handling Data Centers projects will be an added advantage.
• Positive attitude, a proven ability to juggle multiple projects and multiple hats at any one time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail and having an energic and entrepreneurial approach and mindset. A passion for lifelong learning and driving change is a must.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail, multi-tasking skills, Advanced time management and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Languages: Professional proficiency in English is a must.
• 25% travel is required.
