- Identify and develop new product segments, markets, applications, and business opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.
- Understand customer requirements and provide technical-commercial solutions.
- Respond to customer enquiries, proposals, and RFPs in coordination with internal teams.
- Prepare product concepts, segment-wise presentations, and marketing material for customers, exhibitions, trade shows, and conferences.
- Source and manage lab chemicals, specialty chemicals, and dyes product requirements.
SALES & BUSINESS OPERATIONS:
- Generate and qualify business leads and convert enquiries into sustainable business opportunities.
- Conduct cold calling, outbound sales activities, client meetings, negotiations, and deal closures.
- Develop, retain, and grow customer accounts through consistent follow-ups and relationship management.
- Maintain and update prospect and customer databases using CRM, Excel, Salesforce, or other approved systems.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers for product requirements, negotiate prices and commercial terms, and follow up with suppliers for timely quotations, order processing, and delivery.
- Track quotations, active and inactive leads, appointments, customer interactions, and conversions.
- Achieve or exceed assigned annual sales, revenue, and business development targets.
EXPORT COSTING, FREIGHT & INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS:
- Coordinate with CHAs, freight forwarders, shipping agents, and logistics partners to obtain competitive freight rates, customs clearance charges, port charges, documentation charges, and other export-related costs.
- Obtain, compare, and negotiate freight quotations for different destinations, shipment sizes, and modes of transport.
- Calculate export selling prices in USD and other applicable currencies by incorporating product cost, packing, inland transportation, CHA/port charges, freight, insurance, applicable margins, and other associated costs.
- Prepare customer‑specific international quotations based on applicable Incoterms, including EXW, FCA, FOB, CFR/CNF, CIF, DAP, and DDP, as required.
- Ensure accurate INR‑to‑USD and foreign‑currency conversions using approved exchange‑rate assumptions.
- Prepare and evaluate end‑to‑end export costing and ensure that quotations reflect correct freight, Incoterms, payment terms, validity, delivery terms, and margins.
- Maintain an updated database of freight rates, CHA charges, shipping costs, port charges, and other export‑related expenses.
- Coordinate with internal teams, CHAs, and freight forwarders for shipment planning, export documentation, dispatch schedules, and timely delivery.
REVENUE MANAGEMENT & PLANNING:
- Collaborate with management on sales planning, forecasting, and target setting.
- Prepare sales budgets, customer-wise and segment-wise revenue targets.
- Maintain an updated sales pipeline and ensure accurate reporting through CRM systems.
- Support short‑term and long‑term business development planning initiatives.
- Monitor customer profitability and commercial viability of opportunities in coordination with management.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong knowledge of chemical / pharmaceutical industry regulations and compliance.
- Understanding of drug laws, patents, trademarks, manufacturing processes, and relevant commercial considerations.
- Awareness of government policies related to drugs, chemicals, and healthcare programs.
- Sound understanding of drug development phases, generic development, and regulatory processes.
- Strong marketing strategy, negotiation, customer engagement, and business development skills.
- Excellent networking, communication, presentation, and relationship‑building capabilities.
- Strong understanding of export costing, international freight, CHA/customs processes, shipping documentation, and Incoterms 2020.
- Ability to independently calculate EXW, FOB, CFR/CNF, CIF, DAP, and DDP pricing and convert domestic costing into competitive international selling prices.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate product cost, supplier quotations, freight, logistics costs, margins, and international selling prices.
- Good analytical skills and proficiency in Excel/CRM tools for costing, reporting, pipeline management, and sales analysis.
QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor’s Degree / M.Sc. / MBA; Science / Chemistry preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 7+ years of experience in Business Development / Sales. Experience in Specialty Chemicals, Dyes, Lab Chemicals, export sales, or international business is preferred.
