Position: Interior Designer - FF&E

Job Summary
The Interior Designer - FF&E supports the design and specifications of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment across luxury and contract interior projects. Working under the Head of FF&E, the role involves selecting and specifying FF&E items, developing material schemes, preparing documentation, and coordinating with vendors to ensure design intent, quality, and budget alignment from concept to installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of FF&E concepts that align with overall interior design direction.
- Select furniture, lighting, accessories, window treatments, rugs, bedding, and artwork.
- Develop FF&E mood boards, color palettes, and material schemes.
- Prepare and present sample boards including materials finishes and fabrics.
Documentation and Specification
- Produce detailed FF&E specification sheets using standard templates.
- Prepare comprehensive schedules and documentation packages.
- Maintain and update FF&E documentation.
- Ensure FF&E selections meet quality, durability, and functional standards for the intended use.
Layout Planning
- Collaborate with interior designers to develop and refine FF&E layout plans that align with the overall spatial and design intent.
- Assist in space planning for furniture placement, circulation, and functional zoning across different project types.
- Use CAD or BIM software to prepare and update FF&E layout drawings and support documentation.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with interior designers during all design phases.
- Coordinate FF&E layouts and specifications with MEP drawings and requirements.
- Assist in preparing BOQs and budgetary estimates for FF&E items.
- Support procurement processes by gathering product information, sourcing samples, and tracking vendor lead times.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and fabricators to ensure timely deliveries and compliance with specifications.
Follow-Up on Site Queries
- Coordinate with the quality and site teams to address FF&E-related queries during tendering, production and installation phases.
- Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
- Assist in resolving any design-related issues that arise during installation, ensuring alignment with project standards.
- Document any design changes or adjustments required during installation and update FF&E records accordingly.
Vendor and Product Research
- Conduct ongoing research on materials, finishes, and product innovations.
- Maintain and organize a comprehensive library of product samples, vendor catalogues, and supplier contacts.
- Develop and update the FF&E database with detailed records of approved products and materials.
Team Support and Development
- Work collaboratively with the Head of FF&E to support departmental goals.
- Participate in internal training sessions and workshops to grow FF&E knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to design reviews and critique sessions within the FF&E team.
- Utilize FF&E specification tools and platforms to create and manage detailed product documentation.
- Work within BIM environments to ensure accurate coordination between FF&E elements and architectural/interior layouts.
- Use visualization tools to develop client presentations and material boards.
- Maintain organized digital records of specifications, samples, vendor contacts, and project documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
- 3–8 years of experience in FF&E design, preferably in luxury or contract interior design projects.
- Proficient in FF&E documentation, specifications, and sourcing.
- Knowledge of FF&E cost estimation and basic budget management is a plus.
- Strong understanding of furniture construction, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with international vendors and sourcing across global markets.
- Familiarity with sustainable FF&E materials and green design principles.
- Visualization and rendering skills for client presentations (Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, or similar).
- Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Revit (BIM integration preferred), Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and FF&E specification platforms.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
