Job summary

Khatib & Alami is seeking an FF&E Designer at an entry-level to support design teams in creating sketches, paints, fabrics, color palettes and furnishings selections for projects. The role includes developing specifications for materials, finishes, lighting, flooring, furniture, fixtures and equipment as required by the project scope.

You will progressively handle more complex tasks under supervision. The candidate should have a architecture/interior design background, strong graphic skills,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related field.
• 4+ years of industry experience in FF&E.
• Graphic skills from hand sketching to 3D animation.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software such as 3D Studio Max, Viz 2006.
• Knowledge of design software such as Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and InDesign.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Collect internally available data to support project execution, as needed.
• Support discussions with clients to determine criteria guiding FF&E design, including budgets, preferences, etc.
• Support the development of FF&E design sketches, paints, fabrics and color palettes for discussions with clients.
• Estimate material requirements and costs for non-complex FF&E projects.
• Refine selected design options into preliminary and detailed designs under supervision.
• Support design value engineering activities as needed.
• Support selection and design of furnishings, artwork and accessories and internal signage packages.
• Develop specifications for materials, finishes, lighting, flooring, furniture, fixtures and equipment for non-complex projects.
• Coordinate with Architecture, Electrical and other disciplines as needed.
• Assist Project Managers with reviews, approvals and quality control on deliverables.
• Support during supervision stage, including resolving FF&E design conflicts and inspections.
• Manage client relations and respond to clarifications and technical issues as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction with FF&E design deliverables.

Job description

The FF&E Designer is an entry level position in the FF&E Design Department. He supports FF&E design project teams with the development of FF&E design sketches and the preparation of paints and fabric samples and color palettes. He also supports the selection and design of furnishings, artwork, accessories and internal signage as required by the projects’ scope. The jobholder also develops specifications for materials, finishes, lighting, flooring, furniture, fixtures and equipment, as needed. He is expected to progressively work on increasingly complex assignment with time.

Key Responsibilities (Internal Business Process)

• Collect internally available data to support project execution, as needed
• Support discussions with clients to determine criteria guiding FF&E design, including budgets, preferences, etc. for FF&E design projects, as needed
• Support the development of FF&E design sketches, the preparation of paints and fabric samples and color palettes for discussions with clients, as needed
• Estimate material requirements and costs of different FF&E design options for non-complex projects
• Refine selected design options into preliminary and detailed designs for non-complex projects, including all required drawings and reports under supervision of Senior Project FF&E Designers and Senior FF&E Designers
• Support design value engineering activities, as needed
• Support the selection and design of furnishings, artwork and accessories and design internal signage packages for non-complex projects under the supervision of Senior Project FF&E Designers and Senior FF&E Designers, as needed
• Develop specifications for materials, finishes, lighting, flooring, furniture, fixtures and equipment for non-complex projects, as needed
• Support the coordination with other design specializations (e.g. Architecture, Electrical) to coordinate design requirements across disciplines, as needed
• Support Project Managers for the review and validation of non-complex design deliverables with clients and authorities, capturing feedback and obtaining approvals, as needed
• Assist Project Managers with implementing quality control policies and procedures on design deliverables and conduct peer review on team members’ deliverables
• Support during the supervision stage, as needed, including solving FF&E design conflicts, inspecting finishing of FF&E spaces (e.g. painting, carpeting, flooring) and inspecting arrangement of furniture, fixtures, equipment, decorations and artwork, in coordination with local design support teams
• Support Project Managers with the management of client relations and expectations, as needed
• Support Project Managers with the responding to client clarifications and technical issues, as needed
• Ensure client satisfaction with FF&E design deliverables
